Flushgarden 0
How are they broke...who took their money? Is a group of better poker players than them who secretly play in cash games and clean out the TV pros but somehow manage to avoid being noticed by anybody else?Just think about it...if theyre broke then where are these better poker players who are taking their money? Tiltinagain 973
I keep hearing that T.J C. is broke that they added up all his winnings and he was only averaging 30k a year. TJ has said repeatedly that he's been backed for years and has one of the very few good arrangements with his backer and he's very happy with it. I think this has a lot more to do with him being backed than not having the money to pay for the buy in's himself. And, I'm willing to bet his tax bill is a hell of a lot more than 30k a year. Jam-Fly 8
cool, just won a pot from a mis clickanyway, TJ says he's been backed by the same people for quite a long time. Mike is broke. But just because a poker player is broke, doesnt mean he is a bad player. Stu Ungar was broke most of his life and he is the greatest NLHE player ever

bascomeb 0
im sorrybut how do you call Stu Ungar, the ONLY person to win THREE WSOP main event's, overratedBecause he won them against small fields and against people who were timid when they played poker and for the most part didn't know about Supersystem, harrington on holdem, etc.Todays players are much different and would play back at Ungar. Plus he could never lay down top pair.
theresa113 0
I don't think anyone will know the answer to this. However, with all of he endorsements that are going on, I think we will see less who are broke. Some of the pros have implied that they are making big bucks from their online affliations. If online goes, so does that + cash flow.
mtdesmoines 3
"Bwahaha, 90% of TV pros are broke and being backed."Anybody? What's a "TV pro?"If you can get to the table with chips, are you broke? You might be trading on the value of your name, but I guess if you are, then your name has value, doesn't it? "Broke" ... it's such a relative term.
Squamch 0
I very much doubt that many, at any given time are broke. They all talk about how going broke is part of the game, but I think in most cases, they're talking about the early stages of their careers. Especially Mike Mike Matusow, who I very much doubt is actually broke. At any given moment, a few pros might be broke, but I doubt it lasts long. Besides, most "TV Pros" now have endorsement deals worth a lot of money.
