NicksDad1970 0
Ok grammar spelling will probably be way off so take it easy on me.I was really into physical fitness off an on like many people for my whole life. But I really got into it about 6 years ago and got in great shape. Then I got a lil burnt out, a promotion at work, married (2 step kids and I had 1 from a previous marriage) etc.So I went from working out like a mad man (5-6 days a week for 3 hours a day) to not doing a damn thing but eat, watch poker, or play poker for the last 2-3 yrs.As I'm sure you could guess over the past 3 years I've lost just a tad of my tone and overall fitness. Meaning I've gained about 50 lbs and I guess about a tub of lard.About 2 months ago someone started a thread along these lines which (among a few other things) got me somewhat motivated. One of my main problems is I have a very addictive personality good and bad. I didn't want to get back into it and go crazy with protein drinks and living at the gym. In the past 2 months I've lost about 25lbs by walking my a$$ off 5-6 days a week. I walk about 45 minutes to an hour a day. Well it's been great because I let myself have 4 or 5 cheat meals a week and I have to be getting healthier. But now I have the juices flowing again. I want to start working out again but not go crazy. Well I don't have the money to buy any equipment (I figure it would cost roughly 500$+ to get anything decent). So I was thinking about joining a local gym. It's 29$ a month (3 year commitment) and that would REALLY stretch my funds. Honestly I might have to get rid of the internet to be able to afford it. Which means no more online poker. I love LOVE LOVE poker and am an overall winner in tourneys. But not by an amount that really means anything. My wife and kids would get off my *** about being on the computer too much.Anyway I can see I'm starting to talk in circles and may not be making any sense. So, do I continue walking a lot, join a gym and try not to go overboard (BTW they're open 24/7), quit poker, or pray that I win the lottery and do it all?I was at 242 and now I'm at 216. I probably need to lose about 15-20 more lbs. That is if I don't start lifting weights.
Mercury69 3
I would suggest swimming. It's a complete workout, you can vary the pace and, usually, there'll be a decent pool nearby that is pay-as-you-go.
DonkSlayer 1
Seriously, I would struggle as your family member for you to have any amount of money online when $30/mo stretches the budget bigtime.
Spademan 94
Bodyweight training.Hindu pushups and squats, pull-ups and the like. And kettlebells. You can do all that at home, mix in some runs if you like.Get the kids invovled, set them on a path of fitness. If you are unfamiliar with bodyweight training or kettlebells, google them and you can find quite a bit of information. You'll be able to be consistant with it, and even if you go overboard, you'll be at home, so, no problems there. That, and they promote functional strength, and work out parts of your body you were not even aware you had, if you haven't done them.Thank me later. NicksDad1970 0
Seriously, I would struggle as your family member for you to have any amount of money online when $30/mo stretches the budget bigtime.I'm not sure I understand you. I havn't had to add any money to my poker account since I withdrew too much. I'd say overall I've put 1k in the account in a year. I know I've withdrawn near 2k. But right now my FCP account is pretty low. I'm down to about 125$. My internet bill is 30 a month. So keeping the internet and joining a gym would be too much. My wife and I also just had a baby girl she's 5 months old and my wife quit her job. We just built a house and went about 20k over budget havin to build up the foundation. So with all of that my check BARELY covers our bills. Foe me to add anything to it would be a lil tricky. Heck, I'm already looking forward to next years tax return.

Kuge 0
So, do I continue walking a lot, join a gym and try not to go overboard (BTW they're open 24/7), quit poker, or pray that I win the lottery and do it all?Well, like mercury suggested, swimming would be ideal if you want to get a good workout and tone the body.Or, if your budget is really tight and swimming isn't your thing. You can slowly add things to your workout routine, or make one. If you walk alot, maybe you can jog (just saying, not trying ot be a jerk). And if you think jogging isn't good enough for your work-out craving, you can buy hand/wrist/ankle weights to both tone and strengthen your muscles.Of course, if you have the urge to go to the gym and become a workout buff but you know you don't want to, I would suggest you can pick up something to learn/achieve. Like for example, increasing your vertical leap by a foot or something. So like buy a jumprope or something or climb stairs (I had a program in which you can gain vertial leap up to 18 inches w/o the use of weights...but that was a long time ago)I was in a similar phase before I met my gf, now over 2 years later I finally can workout again and try to lose weight and work for my 6-pac abs (or at least not be bleh). I always told myself I would never let myself go, well...unfortunately after I had 2 illnesses this past year which totally made me out of sync. I ended up gaining almost 30 pounds in about 3 months from middle april to middle of july. Granted, I was skinny to begin with, but 30 pounds in so little time was a big warning sign.Good luck in trying to find the most ideal solution. I hope I helped you out.Edit: After reading what spademan says, his ideas seem a lot better. But oh well, whatever floats your boat.
