SwamiSwan 0
I think (perhaps after Williams, Helmuth) Matsow is the best player out there today. Like in golf, its about consistency, not flash in the pan. Sorry misspelled name: 'Matusow'.
NicksDad1970 0
I must be missing something . What has he done lately?I was just thinking he hasn't done much lately. So this isn't the bash post you might have been expecting. Are you saying all this based on some results out there, from watching him play or what? Then again all I've seen of him lately is him in HSP.
jmkiser 0
Mike is a very consistent winning tournament player as of late, but he isn't anywhere near "the best". Maybe the funniest to watch on tv.... especially when DN shuts him up

Maybe the funniest to watch on tv.... especially when DN shuts him up Given: With the competitiion today: how many players can place ITM in 3 events or more? note he just came 13th in the WSOP 2-7 5k (wrong, he didn't cash)). SwamiSwan 0
oh tru dat... my bad. Well, then how about Madsen?2 braclets and 2 3rds... You are right: Seeing Phils stats for 2006 alone make it clear that he is in a class by himself...I was impressed by Mikes consistency but to make the statement or implication that he is the 'Best Circuit Player' was apparently inappropriate. Madsen is up there for sure.

fckthis 0
Ye, but mike has played far less events than hellmuth, yet has been doing well in all of them. But to say he's the best circuit player out there is a little overstated. He's top 5 MAYBE, def top 10.

greatwhite 0
Those are the starting stacks from the beginning of yesterday. Just look at how weird that payout would be. It jumps from $9k to $24k to $30k. Over 20 people being paid with 88 entrants is also too much.
SwamiSwan 0
Those are the starting stacks from the beginning of yesterday.ooops why would they post it as results on the WSOP website? worldseriesofpoker.com needs to update site. greatwhite 0
This game must have the highest variance of all forms of poker. First of all, the two people who got heads up never played this game before. I personally haven't either. How much variance is in this game?
bossyrossy 0
Uuuummmm 21 year old winning two bracelets and over $1million in cash. Great going. Will be interesting to see if his bankroll management is as good as his poker playing or will he go bust like so many other young guns who were heading for greatness. Answers on a postcard!! Squamch 0
I'm pretty sure he's well over 2 million in cash now. His two bracelets were worth over a million each, if I'm not mistaken. Madsen's playing unbelievable right now, making me wonder if the other pros think he's a flash in the pan or the real deal. If he's a flash in the pan, WOW! What a flash, huh? It's a flash that could very well set him for life, and in my mind, has to be the single best WSOP for anyone ever. 2 bracelets and 2 thirds, over 2 million in cash... I think Hellmuth, as great as he's been, is just over 1 million so far. (I wonder if the WSOP points have been updated yet...)Anyway, if I had to make a bet, I'd bet the kid's going to be doing well (maybe not quite THIS well; that would be scary) for years to come. It's just too much to be a fluke. But you can't really judge anything in poker until a year or ten years go by.
