CaptainB 0
If anyone read the interview with Doyle in this months Cardplayer magazine, you probably read how he feels the $50,000 buy in H.O.R.S.E. should be the main event. He also commented on the number of bracelets that are given out. I was fortunate to be there to witness the H.O.R.S.E. tourney. It really was a who's who in the poker world. Got some really great pics of the players on the tables. My wife and i stood there in disbelief when Andy Bloch pointed out the used and marked cards. We were all of 10 ft away and heard the whole exchange. It's crazy to think they would have started a tourney of that magnitude with used cards. Yet, they did. After seeing the used card ordeal, I can understand Daniel's frustration with Harrah's. Although, I don't think a one man boycott will change anything. Back when Doyle and a few other players boycotted the WSOP due to the riff between Jack and Becky Binion. The WSOP played on without them. No man is an island Jack!!! In one of Doyles books there is a picture of Benny Binion explaining his "Golden Rule" "The man who has the gold makes the rules" Well, Harrah's is the one with the gold now. They own the WSOP. Like it or not, that's the way it is. Even if someone decides not to play, the show will go on, because plenty of others are there and ready to take their shot. And, if you did make the big buy in H.O.R.S.E. the main event, it would be flooded with internet sat winners just like the main event will be. The chances that any well known pro will make it to the final table of the main event is slim at best. 8000 internet junkies gunning for 200 pros, we'll just have to wait and see. All you can do is bring any issues to Harrah's attention and hope it gets corrected. Harrah's is a multi-billion dollar corp. Who's side do you think the Nevada Gaming Commission would take? Am sure that Harrah's reserves the right to make any changes they deem necessary. And that can be a vague legal issue. They have their rear ends covered one way or another. Capt. dogfacepoker 0
wsop is not the only poker tournament going these days, you have the wpt which in my imo is better than the wsop. Harrah better get their act together because if the pros boycott future wsop than nobody going watch table full of no names play poker on tv. Seems like most of the complaints from the pros can be easily fixed, like with the schedule just don't have as many tournaments and put in a few more non-hold'em events.
