Phil Helmuth At A Final Table At Wsop

Recommended Posts

For all you Helmuth haters out there, you might notice that he is at the final table today in the O8b event. Love him or hate him, the man is an incredible tournament player.

He is a very conceeded individual but none the less i respect his game and would like to see him win his 10th. His birthday today as well i believe, or yesterday.
seriously? wow, it'd be a nice present if he won this thing.doubtful, but who know?

I'm not a fan of Phil -- in fact, I generally root against him and love to watch him whine. However, because of his skill and love of bracelets, I chose him as my first pick in the fantasy pool.

I noticed that cardplayer (which obviously has no validity to it) has him listed as registered for todays PL Omaha tourney. Looks like he's thinking of doing the live multi-tabling today, while one of them is a final table! Should be interesting if he does.

He gave up on the final table already?Get it?
I get it! I was going to make the same joke, but you beat me to it. Good work. And yeah, go Phil. It'd be pretty vindicating for him to win a non-hold'em event, I would think.

What is it? And how is limit o8 big bet poker, am I missing something?
Plus I know he has at least one bracelet in limit hold'em. What is he talking about?

If you pull up Phil's results on Cardplayer, he has won 5 NLHE WSOP bracelets, 1 PLHE bracelet, and 3 LHE bracelets. He has won a few O8B tournaments, but never at the WSOP. I was shocked to see how many final tables he's actually made in Omaha events (both WSOP and non-WSOP tournaments). I guess he does play a solid Omaha game, but he has never been given credit for it because he's never won an Omaha tourney at the WSOP. Just though some might find that interesting.Alpha

Good point. Since there are far fewer omaha events at the WSOP it is much harder to win one. Plus, while there are plenty of prestigious hold'em tournaments a year, the only prestigious omaha tournaments are at the WSOP.

And yesterday was his birthday. I would LOVE to see him win his 10th!Here is me and Phil just last month at the WSOP (notice the date). He set a record in that event, Event #2, with his 50th "in the money" at WSOPs.Phil.jpg

Is that anything like conceited??
As much as I hate the guy, I'll always root for him.
Agreed...there's a reason why he made my fantasy list....

That thumb's up is classy. I dont know about the shat eating grin though..
When I saw Phil a few weeks ago he spent the entire time I was there with his head in his hands and would only raise his head in order to fold his cards.

I caught him for the photo as he was 1st back to his table after a break. He was not "playing" right at that moment. Nor was I playing at his table, or even in that event.

I was at the event and Phil showed up late as usual. He showed up 2 minutes before the 1st level ended. He said that he was scheduled for the Limit event that started at 12 noon, but woke up late so he missed it and played in the 08b.
