If you pull the 2 :club: out of a deck of 52. put it back in, shuffle. what are the odds you will get the 2 :D again ?Basically we were playing a roulette type game. There were all diff cards from a different deck, eg. suits, numbers, black/red etc. We bet on what card would come up when we cut the deck. A guy bets on every card but the 4 :) . A 2 :D comes up. He claims that a 2 :D will have a chance of coming 1 in 2704 (52x52) on the next hand.

your friend is an idiot then. The chance of picking the 2 of spades coming two straight times BEFORE the first cut is 1/52^2
It's always the same. If you flip a coin, and it comes up heads 1,000 times... the very next time its still a 50/50 chance for heads / tails.

I want to put to a bullet in your friends skull, and then rip out his testes so that there is absolutely no chance that he may procreate. He is a subhuman retard.

1/52
Actually, the odds are 0.019230769231Not too long ago, casinos added a history chart at the roulette table to show what the previous results were so that those who don't understand probability theory would rely on the past to make future bets. Because of this, roulette revenue increased substantially.

your friend's thinking of it differently. The odds of a reshuffle and that card coming up are 1/52BUTThe odds of you going, okay so I think the 2 of spades will come up twice if we do that experiment are much different. That's what he was thinking when he said that

Umm look at what I said again and then hopefully you'll understand. I've taught statistics at the university level so if anyone has a statistical question please ask away. The chance of him drawing the 2 of spades again is 1/52, but the chance of him picking the two of spades twice in a row after he says I'm going to pick the two of spades twice in a row is 1/52^2, as long as he puts the original picked card back in. I don't know how anyone who plays poker can misunderstand or question this kind of intuitive math.

Anybody else hate it when they see this justification? Not that you don't have the right idea...or understand the principle....But you're wrong.-Chesta

why are you saying he's wrong?Unless you are saying that the evidence suggests an unfair coin.then I'm with you.
