The 4th of July isn't really the "birth" of America. It's more of the conception. We still had to go through the labor pains of winning a war and all.

It's similar to the San Jose fans booing the Canadian National Anthem and then our guys in Edmonton cheering madly while the American anthem was played. Mr Yorke, you got that right!

Exactly my thinking.I knew the "birthday" title was gonna get a comment but hey, it's the thought that counts right?

To celebrate your Canadian kindness, I will have a few of the remaining snowbirds over for burgers and beer today. And I will only aim about half of my fireworks directly at them. Good times ahead!!!

Thank you!... and I am sorry that some of my more obnoxious countrymen high-jacked the Canada Day thread. Unfortunately, a country whose culture was brash enough to overthrow its former government sometimes produces members who don't know when or how to be polite.Happy belated Canada Day to you, wussy neighbors to the north!

I was just joking about the "wussy" part. It was a knee-jerk reaction to being called a Yankee Imperialist in the thread's title. Some of my best friends have been Canadian.

Interesting historical fact: The tradition of shooting fireworks is a symbolic representation of the missles we shot to defeat the alien invaders and win our indepdence. Go America!
Actually it's getting ready for my birthday tomorrow, but you were close. The parades too.

Right. Did the President mention you in his speech and say how he was looking forward to this day and stuff and how he is waiting for it every year? B)
