greatwhite 0
did you seriously read the whole thing though?Yes...It's crazy how obsessed he was with DN, then how he "divorced him", then fell back in love with him, and then posted a whole big thing on blogspot.com about it with pictures and everything. You don't think this guy is a little crazy?

You don't think this guy is a little crazy?just because a dude posts a blog about DN doesn't mean he's going to kill Daniel and wear his skin as a coat.he wrote a blog with a moral about people's preconceived notions of people in the media, and wrote about how his was proved wrong.now excuse me while i go write a blog about barry greenstein and then fondle myself. steve7stud 0
I didn't like the story. I've known Daniel for 9 years now. I'm 29, he's a little older than I am. We actually met at Commerce when he was really "kid poker" and was grinding away in tourneys, as was I. Immediately I noticed that he had a ton of talent. We got to talking, and we were both chess players. I jokingly offered him chess lessons for some tourney advice. Over the years I kept in touch off and on, and we would see each other on occassion. He was nice enough to answer a ton of questions that I used to have about poker, and really helped me improve my game. Sometimes he was too busy, sometimes he wasn't. The same is true of him today. But, he didn't just appear in 2003 and nobody knew him, like this kid says. Daniel played his butt off in both cash games and tournaments and was winning up until 2004. And during that year, things went very very well for him. Eventually he did what any smart person would do. He started having his money work for him, as opposed to him working for his money. That's not to say that he stopped playing poker, or sold out. He had visions, and turned them into a reality. So good for him. And congrats on all of his success with Stacked, FCP, tournaments, cash games, golf, and life. What the guy who wrote in his blog doesn't understand, is that those who can do what Daniel has done, are doing it. Whether you know it or not. Full Tilt has quite a few well named pros behind it, in fact so does just about every major poker site. There is money to be made at the tables and away from the tables. Which is something that this kid probably doesn't understand just yet.As far as Daniel having Matt come and watch him at the WSOP, that's Daniel being Daniel. He does that because he's a nice guy, and because he GENUINELY cares about people. This is my opinion of course. But in my experience, Daniel has been a great guy. This guy starting to like Daniel again now, is similar to liking Barry Greenstein because he gives money to charity. I just don't buy it. You like someone for the whole package, not just because they have displayed some act of kindness. I suppose that it bothers me that people are so quick to judge someone like Daniel, who has done so much for the poker world. And especially for us on this forum. Just my thoughts. theresa113 0
Steve, I couldn’t agree with you more. The reason why I found the blog interesting is because I thought it reflected the thoughts of some of the forum members (which I have disagreed with countless times in the past.) I do not feel that this guy is aware of the whole Daniel package but I did like the fact that once he met him his opinion started to change. I remember when Daniel first had an ad for Oakley’s and there was a huge uproar on this forum. So many members were criticizing Daniel for selling out. I have never understood the term of selling out. Making a living is the American way. When one of your commodities is a public image, you would be foolish not to use that skill. When you think of the populous as a whole, very few of us have the ability to promote a product in a public arena. Daniel has always promoted products and services that he either uses or that he feels are of quality. I wonder how many of us go to work at a company that we do not completely believe in and feel that we can stand behind. Most likely the sell outs and hypocrites are the people who criticize when someone taps into a moment of success that is out side of their normal routine. I guess the reason this blog struck a chord with me so much is that I find my son to be a very critical person of late and lacking tolerance. Maybe this is just an age thing or maybe it is part of this generation. At his age, I felt my parents were so narrow-minded. Now, I am thinking that he and his friends are narrow-minded. My son told me that his dad thinks I am a hippie (which I find quite funny since he is the one with long hair in a pony tail.) I fear that our youth does not see the big picture and I wonder if this is the way we have raised them to be or if it is just a personality trait. Anyway, I am all about acceptance and I hope I can teach my son the same. Steve, I can totallysee why you did not like the blog. In fact, that is why I stated you have to read the whole thing because half way through I wanted to say to the writer that he was an ungrateful little twerp. Does he still have the big picture on Daniel? Probably not. But then again, there are few of us who really even have a grasp on the big picture of ourselves. I guess it comes with time and experience. Or maybe it comes with an open heart and mind. What I do hope with everyone is that we learn to stop making rash choices on whom we like and who we don’t like and that we take the time to peel back the layers and look at the person in their entirety. Thanks Steve for your perspective of Daniel. I wish I had the history that you have with Daniel but I can honestly say, just reading his blog and being part of this community has affected me in a very positive way.
