smash, your opinion please ....

Recommended Posts

Obvioulsy anyone please reply, this is just that I want to see what Smash thinks based on his "project".Someon posted this link and table http://www.jade-dragon.net/poker/preflop.xls (this was posted on twoplustwo for those concerned about copyright). I was wondering if you had any major differenced between this table and your play (at the higher limits you play) and which tabl do you think you follow more "tight", or "loose". If in between, please give examples.ThanksAnyone else who has any opninion on this, please feel free to post. Oh yeah, and if we can avoid turning this into a bashing of one another, I would appreciate it as I would like to read everyone's replies and would prefer that half the replies are off topic. Thanks!

Let me ask you this then. When do you let go of hands like AK, KQs, JJ? Especially if you raised in early position with them and missed the flop? Also, do you let go of any pair if you don't hit a set on the flop?

I posted that spreadsheet, its the preflop strategy taken directly from small stakes holdem. So smash could comment on how close his strategy is to that book. He has said in the past it is very close I believe. There are some errors in that spreadsheet though. This pdf shows the same material, with a few trivial corrections, and smash might have a .pdf program. http://bellsouthpwp.net/j/c/jccuneo/preflop.pdfhope that helps

I folded JJ preflop in a live game last week, never thought I'd be able to do it, but I had a good read on a few players. It turns out I was beaten with QQ and AK (Ace hit on the flop). In another situation I also folded KK after a random flop because I felt I was beaten. Turns out someone had flopped a straight after calling a huge preflop raise by me, with some crap (unconnected) cards.Basically, if you think you're beaten, fold the cards. Usually when someone is betting big, based on what they have bet before, you can almost tell if you're beaten. This is ESPECIALLY prevalent in NL.

How about cold calling a raise with 22 or JTs in early position. Do you think these are +EV?I'd more inclined to call with JTs, but both are fine if it really is a loose table where 5 people are going to cold call behind you.

Smash, when you are four tabling, you don't really get a feal for the table being loose or tight, so which one do you use? Also, since harvey mentioned this is for low limits, what limits does it refer to? Is 5/10 considered low limits 8/16?
