gkunit20 1
Dude, that was a foul. Terrible play by the Auzzie defender. All he had to do was stay on his feet and touch the ball away. Correct call.

Correct call.It was a mixture of the two. You are correct by saying all he had to do was stay on his feet, but he did go down very easily.

Correct call. What a way to end the game. If he stays on his feet there's no call. I thought Australia was going to win it going into OT. Italy looked tired with a man down but Australia was very quick thru out the game.It reminds me of Baggio missing the penalty kick in the '94 cup to Brazil
randy 0
the player from italy made no attempt to go for the ball, so it should not be a penalty.
spm 1
the player from italy made no attempt to go for the ball, so it should not be a penalty. The Australian player was between him and the ball. I think we all agree he went down very easily but the defender shouldn't have gone to ground.
Jadaki 1
It was questionable. I always hate calling a foul on the defender when he makes contact with the ball and in the aftermath a player goes down. There is a place for slide tackles in soccer, if there wasn't they should just outlaw them completely. I would also be a lot less likely to call that in extended time. A foul is a foul and I give that ref a lot of credit for having the stones to make that call. It was the right call. Maybe the Italian player could have stayed on his feet but I highly doubt he would have gotten a good chance off cause he was so off balance. Sure he went down easy but it was smart on his part to make sure the penalty was awarded. Dumb play by the Australian defender.

Dumb play by the Australian defender. When I first saw it this afternoon I thought the Aussie made contact with the ball, after watching the highlights tonight it was clear he didn't. He also didn't need to make a slide tackle at all in that situation, it was a poor decision on his part.I also missed the handball at italian defender got away with that shoudl have been a PS for the Aussies. Are you trying to say the Italian player wasn't going to take a shot if he doesn't get undercut?no, clearly he would have taken a shot at shooting, but he wasnt directly trying to hit it that second. he was trying to avoid accidentally falling over our player
gkunit20 1
correct call?? nup, i play soccer and that was bull crap . the player wasnt even going for the ball. shouldnt have happened. and in the last 3 seconds of the game????!?!?!!Congrats. I do too. And if your guy had stayed on his feet like a good defender, there would have been no call. You're player choked. It was a correct call. It wasn't even a sliding tackle. He just kinda fell down.

He never should have attempted that play, he stayson his feet and they go to OT.
yergan 0
If I am lying in the middle of the pitch and you run into me, is that a foul?In my (admitedly blatantly biased) opinion, that is what happened.
Mercury69 3
I was a ****ing joke of a call, at any time in the match, but to call a penalty kick with 12 seconds remaining in injury time??? COME ON!!!Stupid. And it almost should have been a card on the Italian player for diving.
wsox8 10
I always wondered how people got so into soccer.. Guess it's just not my sport.
spm 1
I always wondered how people got so into soccer.. Guess it's just not my sport.Because its the best game on the planet. Thats why its the most watched sport. If I am lying in the middle of the pitch and you run into me, is that a foul?In my (admitedly blatantly biased) opinion, that is what happened.Pointless statement. He was in the in the box and went to ground when he didn't need to. As stated, he stays on his feet and there wouldn;t have been a problem.
Guest Guest
I have found a replay of the event. You tell me what you think.I say it was a dive
