AvoidReality 0
Hey all,Just a question that i've always wondered about, how do people who were not born in the states manage to take up residence in say vegas for example? I've recently seen that Patrik Antonius has moved to vegas now and i always wondered about it, do they have to have a certain amount of money to be allowed to stay? Do the states welcome pro players to stay as long as they want as long as they pay them tax on any winnings? Do they have to leave after a certain time etc etc?Any answers would be greatthanks
erac22 0
You can stay in the country for a certain amount of time, maybe like 90 days, with just a passport. If you're planning on staying longer you need some sort of work/school visa or a green card.erac
stevedar 0
I would hazard a guess that most foreign pros that live in the US apply for residency as entertainers.
Waffles2003 1
Actually, depending on what country you are from, u can stay in this country for up to 6 months on a tourist visa, then u have to leave and come back.

On a tourist visa you're not allowed to be "employed" but I'm sure they don't consider playing poker in a casino employment.
Aces, Full, Mike 0
I doubt you'll be able to come and stay here. You're likely too educated, speak English too well, and are not the right color. I would suggest learning Spanish and working on your tan, and then you might have a chance eventually.
AZWildcat 0
if I were Antonius, I'd try and bang as many Vegas showgirls as I could in my limited time here... Has anyone ever seen him playing live at the casinos, or does he only just show up for the $10K tourneys? It seems like he's still cleaning up online... I wonder how he would do in live high stakes NL games...
terradawg 0
i think you have to leave for 3 months after staying for 6 months. my friend married a girl from the UK and that's what she had to do for like 3 years before she became a permanent resident. it has been much tougher since 9/11. sholden 0
As far as I know that would work. On a tourist visa you're not allowed to be "employed" but I'm sure they don't consider playing poker in a casino employment. The problem might be that if they didn't classify that as working then you'd still have to pay taxes on the winnings (though tax evasion isn't exactly uncommon) but wouldn't be able to subtract your losses since you aren't "working".Of course I could be completely wrong, in fact it's more than likely. Marchione 0
i lived in vegas for awile and had a room mate who was from england~ this guy was allowed to stay for 90 days visiting.well what he would do is take a bus down to San diego and cross over to mexico for a afternoon and then re-enter the state's for another 90 days.this has been going for for the last 5 years !also apply for a "ssn" for bank reasons onlythis will help you open up a bank acc and so on . Aces, Full, Mike 0
Totally uncalled for....Why? It's the truth. The truth is not always pleasant. Our joke of an immigration policy discriminates against europeans and benefits latin americans. And don't try refuting me on this. I have firsthand experience on this.
