playhardpoker 0
first of all:sorry about my bad english.ok,i read an article bout gus and howard, how they do workouts to clean up their mind. This is a wery intresting subjekt. But i doubt everybody knows when to play poker in all this. Here is the thing:After a hard workout, take a proteinshake and a banana,go to the shower. Then take a good meal whitin an hour or so,after this things start to happen. Before i started to play poker,i used to clean the whole house at such a time, but now i use this edge in poker. My mind is just so sharp,i got the self estem, and i sleep good at night, its a fantastic time to play poker at
epistemic 0
i trained as a triathlete for two years, and probably did close to seven triathlons in a single season competitively. it's been about a year since I stopped, and I realize just how amazing I felt then, so I think I will be getting back into it. i tend to take pursuits to extremes, so i did get burned out. getting up at 5 am to swim a mile in the ocean with a bunch of avid triathletes can be surreal and exhilarating at the same time. especially when it's barely light out  . JTPHS 0
That must of been amazing... It's a lot of hard work to do that, but the feeling you get from it is amazing. I used to swim and i know the what you mean about the surreal feeling from swimming like that... must be amazing in the ocean

elkang 0
I wholeheartedly agree with this. Especially as age begins to take it's toll. Keeping in shape has such a huge EV+.I tend to do social physical activities as that fits me best.
playhardpoker 0
my philosophy is to keep things in balance.a lot of people take things to the extreme.Like with training, they destroy themselwes with steroids, and poker, they become anti social.

NormanHaupt 0
Man... The new forum cleanup must be working since no one has flamed his spelling. Sorry, side thought- thought I'd point that out lolIn the past couple year since High School I've been falling off of my working out. I no longer had a need to since I didn't have a team or anything to play for. I'm seriously thinking about going back to it all though, since really, when you're fit and feeling good, life does change. Clutter in your life falls away and you usually get a little more personal time to think about things.Of course, this is all relative- between playing poker, a real job, and commuting 81 miles to, and then from, work. Finding an hour every day to bike or run can be so difficult any more.
Duff_Man 0
getting up at 5 am to swim a mile in the ocean with a bunch of avid triathletes can be surreal and exhilarating at the same time. especially when it's barely light out  .Holy cow. The only reason I ever get up at 5a.m. is to drop a duece then it's right back to bed. Wish I had your motivation. I'm trying to get back into the gym. I was doing good last year, dropped around 15lbs for my brothers wedding, but then I got tendinitis in both shoulders and I couldn't lift for a while. that's my problem once I stop for a little while it becomes twice as hard to get back into it.Wish me luck.
