Ive never got rakeback? How does it work and how do you go about getting it? Would it only be from the sign up period onward or from previous games as well?

When I was down to my last nickel, I invested that nickel in an apple. I spent the entire day polishing the apple and, at the end of the day, I sold the apple for ten cents. The next morning, I invested those ten cents in two apples. I spent the entire day polishing them and sold them at 5 pm for 20 cents. I continued this system for a month, by the end of which I'd accumulated a fortune of $1.37. Then my wife's father died and left us two million dollars.

how to get from 20 bucks in feb 2005 to 60k and back again:the old fashioned way: buying into MTTs over my bankroll and winning them. withdraw half your winnings, keep rest in roll. after that, i started playing 10/20 and 25/50+ until a horrendous run knocked me back to where i am these days, grinding out the 22 dollar sngs on party to try to get my roll back to 3k so i can play cash games that are worth my while again.the party sng route is a VERY good way to build your roll, imho. in the evening hours, 4-6 tabling, you can net over 100 dollars an hour just at the 22 dollars.

sorry, I'm still laughing about cu_dan playing 20/40.
if you stopped laughing, I definitely startedAs for the BRStarted out a few years ago playing $50 NL, sngs, and MTTs and was consistently cashing out $200 a week for months upon months. I never really built a bankroll until this yearDeposited $200 when FCP opened in January and a few decent MTT scores and now I'm comfortably playing 1/2 NL. I've cashed out a few thousand but mainly everything I have won I have kept online as my BR. I'm hoping to have a comfortable BR for 2/4 NL soon.

credit cardless i played a freeroll on party and worked it up from there. $20 to start with and im now playing 10/20 and 20/40. it can be done you just need to have a good run to get started
This is hilarious.... if hes playing 20/40 then wow....i started with $50 deposits and lost a couple two or three of those.... ran it up to 600 once.... started over...... lost a couple of more $50 deposits and then ran it up to $1600 playing 1/2nl and then cashed out because i suck and have no discipline

Took down two live tourneys in one week. 1st one was at the Hustler Casino paid $8,000 and 2nd was a rebuy nooner at the bike that paid $2,500. Had my ups and downs like everyone else. But really started to build a bankroll when I began to consistently win at the $2-$5 NL tables. Now I play $2-$5 NL and $5-$10 NL.

I lost a few $50 deposits. After finally getting tired of losing, i decided to deposit $100 into a site with a 100% deposit bonus. I got that up to about 300, and am now trying to clear another bonus. Would rakeback end up making me more money at $.25/.5 and $.5/1 limit than these deposit bonuses?

Not if you're getting a good deposit bonus.

I started off by depositing 50 bucks on party, losing it, depositing 50 on party, losing it, depositing 50 on party, RUNNIN IT UP TO 800 IN 3 WEEKS and then losing it....and then I put 50 on stars, got that up to about 250 through some .10/.25 no limit after I'd finally adapted to online play. I had to figure out that being fancy at micro stakes NL online is about the dumbest move you can make. Finally got my break taking 2nd at a $20+2 deepstack on stars (lost a coinflip which would've won it for me, 4's lost against a5 after I hit a set to the wheel...still pissed, lol) for, uh...1500 or something, I forgot. Switched to cash games almost exclusively for a while, maybe a MTT every few weeks but I figured I was a much better ring game player and stuck to it, working my roll up to maybe 2500. Chopped for 1st at another $20+2 a few months ago for about $2500, and I've been grinding it out at ring games ever since. If it wasn't for that first deepstack, though, I'd probably still be sitting at .10/.25 or .25/.50 if I was lucky. Always nice to take down a good MTT, and I really recommend the deepstack format if you're willing to commit to playing solid for 11 hours.

Deposited $70 on UB last June--lost it in 3 days playing 1/2 limit, thinking it would be as easy as playing live. Yeah, right. :D Deposited $50---Got down to literally my last $5 playing .25/.50 limit.Looking back, I realize that I didn't know jack about this game, thought it was easy, any two cards could win, yada yada....Read SSHE, TOP, and the other bibles. Read the strat forums, and learned how to play. Moved down to .01/.02 tables, ground my way back through .02/.04, .05/.10 with some $1 and $5 SnGs.Now I'm up to about $500, playing .5/1, hoping to jump to 1/2 soon, and playing $10 SnGs. I never want to get down to the felt again! So I guess I'm a contender for perseverance and starting from square one and literally grinding it out. If I can do it, anyone can. :club:

Just curious how everyone started and built there bankroll for online poker. Im just a casual online player and university student who usually builds from 50 to 4 or 500 and makes consistent cashouts. Just wondering how everyone got started and how they built up.

Started with instantbankroll last june and I've made 10k in the mean time between playing poker, online surveys, casino bonuses, poker bonuses and rakeback. There is just so much money out there for the taking. I mean damn, you can make 1k in a week just from casino bonuses (only doing 5-6 sites).
