NOFX_PUNK 0
This past weekend I was lucky enough to win the annual 'Main Event' at a local bar, I only discovered about 2 weeks ago that anyone played cards there at all so it was nice to be able to jump in their biggest tournament right off the bat!It was a $200 freezeout with 190 something runners. There were two start days, each playing until there were 20 left, the final 4 tables were day 3 starting about 2pm on Sunday. I am going to do a full report before too long but to make a long story short I took it down for almost $11.5k.I have already used some of this win to pay down some student debt but I plan to use a fair chunk of the rest to make a go of it over the summer so I can cruise through my third year at uni without having to play too much poker, get a job or sacrifice my studying!I am going to conserve about 5k as a roll to play cash games and MTTs at a variety of sites largely at 5/10LHE 1/2 PLO and a dabble in some other limit games, Razz and Stud most likely.I will be updating my blog regularly over the next couple of months so as you can all (If interested) follow my quest and comment on it accordingly.I am however, interested in looking at some kind of mentorship or protege-style encouragement to give me an outside opinion on my play, my stats, my results and more. If anyone is interested in looking at my game with me or in giving me some advice, reassurance when I run bad etc etc then please either respond to this thread or PM me. I have been a consistent winner for 2-3 years in a variety of games but that in no way mean I am above some advice and help, particularly from a group of people so well qualified to do so! I already speak to a few FCPers on msn who help me with my play, we analyse HHs and give each other some loving rail support (I know, how gay right? Lol) and I think it helps a great deal so anybody who wants to join the party let me know. I think it could be an interesting experience!Wish me luck, as soon as my lump deposits start to clear I will be back at the tables so in a few days we begin!TP/MMRob

Canary3 1
dang... great job on the win...... but i wouldnt suggest jumping up too high in limits. Its easy to do... since you just won a ridiculous amount of money but you would be a lot better off to grind your way up from what you were last playing

Its easy to do... since you just won a ridiculous amount of money but you would be a lot better off to grind your way up from what you were last playingI know what you mean but I have realistically had the roll to be playing 10/20 full ring for the last year or so, but have been grinding at 1/2 PLO and 4-6 tabling HE for the past few months to get more experience in the grinding aspect of things, thanks for the input tho, see why I need to be a protege? You will get to take some credit for me...

NOFX_PUNK 0
Thanks for all the kind words guys, I assume from the lack of responses and PMs that noone wants to 'Protege' me or give me another perspective on my game?! Lol!Anyhow, my money should be cleared in the next 8 working days and I will be sitting at some 3/6+ tables!
TheCinciKid 0
Nice win. Be careful about expectations, especially if you've never played upper limits before. Do you have pokertracker? If not you need to get it because it's essential as you move up higher in limit hold'em. I'm not exactly god's gift to poker, but I'd be happy to help you out anywhere I can. I believe that money management is probably the most important aspect to making someone a long term winner and for the most part I have that one down. PM me if you want my thoughts on anything in particular.

PM me if you want my thoughts on anything in particular.I play frequently at 2/4 LHE and 1/2 PLO and have dabbled in 3/6-5/10 on occasion with 2 or 3 sessions of 10/20 live and have been able to squeeze out 7-10/100BBs. I have poker tracker but have not yet imported ALL my HHs, currently semi-loose aggressive to aggressive pf in cash games and TAG -aggressive in MTTsI also got omaha tracker and am having 20/100BBs consistently!
