blueodum 0
I thought that Lindgren's book was mostly ghost-written by Matt Matros. I could be wrong about that, but I seem to have heard that a couple of times.Matros' own book - The Making of a Poker Player - is an excellent read by the way. Matros has writing talent and a good poker mind. I hope he continues to write poker books.

albasuna 0
Greenstein makes no sense whatsoever. Its like saying that Albert Pujols isnt the best player in baseball because if you changed the rules so you had to hit with a tennis racket other players would be better. The way tourneys are currently played and run ivey is the best. Because of this, hes the best tourney player in the world. What he said.
jesseru87 0
Yes!This thread gives me an excuse to obnoxiously brag about SAT scores!1460 out of 1600!I barely made it out of high school and have basically given up on college after one year.I guess I'm just dumb, and not as intelligent as most of you. Thriceknurd 0
You know what's really funny? Lindgren wrote a book. From what I understand, it is about exactly the same type of things Greenstein was talking about...taking risks early on against inferior players to try and build a big stack. Just curious as to what risks you're referring to? I ask this because, I would like to think that players such as Lindgren and Greenstein would rather outplay their opponents postflop as opposed to pushing all the chips preflop with maybe the slightest of edges. That is, if those are the risks you're implying.Anyone have any idea?
NEWBIEX10 0
erick lindgren is a moron who crushes dreams Greenstein makes no sense whatsoever. Because of this, hes the best tourney player in the world.you sir are a moron.......ivey does not make it out of the first day much...(well depending how you define much) but thats not the point...Mizrachi is by far the best tournament player in the world right now....not even a question, andone who says different is sadly misinformed

Incubus77546 0
Uhh.. are you just saying that because you think Negreanu is smart? That is highly debatable considering he dropped out of high school (which basically means if he wasnt a poker player hed be flipping burgers at mcdonalds). Regardless of where he is now, dropping out of high school is not smart. period. Dont look at results to justify your reasons.I find a lot of things messed up about this thread. Whether it be calling Erick Lindgren stupid or saying that Negreanu should be flipping burgers... Negreanu dropped out of highschool only missing like half a credit to graduate because HE KNEW he could make a living playing poker. Its not like Negreanu was a guy who got held back three times and just decided to call it quits.
Demonde 0
OH MY GOD YOU ARE ALL FUCKING RETARDED.JESUS CHRIST.I'm only 18 and much, much smarter than almost all of you.Speedz is the only one who gets my respect thus far in this stupid, stupid thread. Even my Chris Moneymaker thread was more legit and intelligent than this piece of shit. Are you sure that you're actually adults? Not ten years old? You guys are fucking pitiful. So fucking stupid, it's amazing. This is just disheartening, the things some of you actually think and feel the need to express.I am not surprised that George W. Bush is our president. Doyle BrunsonI could name some more but you get the point...Mizrachi is a beast and has really blown up on the tournament circuit but I believe these guys are better tournament NL Hold 'em players. Feel free to disagree like I said its just my opinion.
NEWBIEX10 0
mizrachi has won 5 notable tournament in the last 2 years atleast........ all the others 1 at most......... he pwns all of them, wow incubus you are a misinformed TV poker only playeri have the upmost respect for doyle, (i think MM better than all) saying he is a better tourney player than MM is absurd..... wow wowwwwwwwwww
NicksDad1970 0
I think only time will tell. If the question is who's the best ot hottest player right now. It would be hard to argue against the grinder. I would think it would be over a long period of time before it would be easier to decide who the best was. So to say someone has no clue what they're talking about just because they don't pick the person that's the hottest right now is a bit overboard wouldn't you say?Look at Daniel's year in 04'. What year was it that Lindgren was tearing it up. How about Cunningham's 05 WSOP?Kinda like when someone asks you what your favorite movie is...Usually people say something fairly recent because that's what was on their mind recently.BTW, we all know the best movie ever was Full Metal Jacket.Joker "How can you kill women and children"Gunner "Easy, you just don't lead em as much"
greatwhite 0
There are a lot of dumb statements on this thread. It seems that hardly anybody realizes that choices don't mimic intelligence. Just because you make millions of dollars, decided to go to college, or finished high school doesn't show if your intelligent or not. Look at the choices Stu Ungar made. Not too many people have been smarter then him and he didn't make the best choices in life. In my opinion Daniel, Ivey, and Eric are very intelligent people. They are able to think on a higher poker level then any of you guys.
blueodum 0
They are able to think on a higher level then any of you guys.If you are talking about poker only - I agree. They have a particular type of intelligence, which, in combination with many years of practice, has resulted in superb poker skills. But if you are talking about thinking in general, then you are being presumptuous. You have no idea what the posters of this forum are capable of intellectually.
greatwhite 0
Thanks. I edited my post. However, my point is that having a college degree doesn't automatically make you more intelligent then a college or even high school drop out.

The short term difference of results between any two good tournament pros is almost completely due to variance.
