ryansd 0
I sometimes listen to my ipod, sometimes not. I was just going to post a thread about this actually. I really like listening because it helps past the time and keeps me pumped up. However, other times I feel like I might be missing something at the table, and it almost distracts me. What about everyone else?
Thriceknurd 0
Very rare that I'll listen to music during a live game. Although online my playlist is very active. I prefer mellow music. It's soooooothing.Anything acoustic like:Jack JohnsonDamien RiceBands such as:DredgMuse RadioheadSomething along those lines I suppose.
pocktdeuces 0
I am turning 21 in a couple months, and am trying to decide whether or not i want to listen to an ipod when i play live. I thinking that probly at least at first i will not. because i am not really used to looking for tells and such, and i think that listening to music will probly take away from my reading ability at first. Hopefully it will just become second nature after a while and i will be able to listen to music while i play. I really feel much more relaxed when listening to music. JSmu 0
I am using my ipod every time and its not true that u miss something at the table. If u really miss something, then ask - the others will spot weakness and thinking that you didn´t pay that much attention or they put you on a tight player - everything that helps your game If you can read people by listening to there voices, then you shouldn´t use it of course

AceJackOffS 0
I only listen to music when there are annoying people at teh table. for instance today I put my ipod on after the guy gave this speech..."I always hear people talking about odds and stuff, stuff like they have 9 outs. but there is only one more card to come so who cares about nine outs there can only be one card on the river."this is when I start to listen to music.today I listened to the Fort Minor stuff, if I suffer a huge loss or bad beat I put on the eagles

brabz 0
I listen to music playing online, but never live. Aside from missing out on the stupid things people say that give away too much information, the prevailing attitude in every card room I've been in is that it's unnecessary and rude. The few experiences I've had with people wearing headphones at my table is that they generally don't follow the action as closely, have to ask the dealer about the action, and then further delay the game by trying to talk to the bettor wheedling out information when faced with a difficult decision instead of looking for tells/cues the entire time the person is at the table.I'm sure that at a certain level of cash game, or in large buy-in tournaments, listening to music helps, but I really don't think it's necessary at most levels casino card rooms spread. vvganeshavv 4
I like listening to music both live and online. Usually some form of punk or 80's mix. Sometimes I'll play Shakira.I rather listen to music live, that way I don't really have to hear all the stupid comments dirty old men make. Get's annoying after awhile, music helps block them out. Balloon guy 158
When someone is listening to music at the table, and has to ask what's going on. I notice people take extra pleasure taking their money. Why make enemies? Like DN says, he wants people to like him so they might play less hard on him, not get the extra bets etc. Most people are playing for fun, if you make it less fun for them, they will leave, or not give you action.Tournaments are different because you have to play so much tighter, and it can be boring. If I do listen to music though it's ALWAYS Kenny Roger's The Gambler, set to repeat. After having played for 3 years at the Commerce, when I first got there I was the super-serious, Ipod listening guy. I then realized that if I just talk and make friends and have a good time, while still playing super hardcore poker...it makes an all around better experience.
SBriand 4
I listen to my Nano live and online. When I am online I use my Shure headphones but when live I use the ones that came with it and usually only have one earbud in so I don't miss anything. It keeps me focused. I win more live with my music than I do without. Playlists:eh, tons of stuffGodsmackMetallicaKaiser ChiefsScissor SistersLynyrd SkynrydCSN&YPanteraKelly Clarkston

And most of the time, the conversations you have, as well as being fun, allow you to get to know the regular players and their playing style. It's also especially nice when the people at the table know you and don't treat you like an upstart 'Moneymaker' wannabe and respect bets, etc.
