keith crime 8
It’s about 4:30 and 4 of us are following the weekly game with a late follow up. We’re down to three players. With maybe 16 chips in the pot my usual work time sparring mate Kow goes all in heads up against me after the flop with his final 6 chips. Since I have maybe 70 of the 200 chips and one whole over card, I call with nothing only to see that so far my Q 9 off is good against his 3 5. He of course hits a five on the river and starts to mount a furious comeback. About ten minutes later, I’m all in with my 35 chips against Steve who calls with 33. He of course hits a 6 on the river to beat my AQ with his suited K 6 and I find myself on the button with 2 chips – one each for every hundred currently on the table. Pushing my luck I start the betting by going all in with my stellar QJ of hearts. I of course find myself up against both my opponents with the infinitely enticing thought of tripling up to 6 (could it be?) 6 chips. Imagine my delight when the flop includes a 10 and a 9. Not only do I hit my straight when a K hits on the turn but Steve winds up all in and goes bust against Kow ensuring me of second place, which of course pays nothing. Now the last time Kow and I found ourselves heads up in an after work poker game it lasted about 45 minutes. Sadly this included maybe 15 minutes of poker and about a 30 minute long infinitely profane joust over an equitable way to chop up the entry fees. Obviously, the subject of a chop comes up immediately. I casually peruse the board ponder my 6 chips, consider the 5 10 blinds, gaze over at Kow’s stack of 194 tokens and offer to take 4 out of the 80 dollars up for grabs. Generously, Kow says “How about I give you 50 cents and help you clean up?” War has been declared. Obviously (or I wouldn’t have been writing about this), I double up three straight times despite the fact that I’m a huge dog before every flop. Now I have 48 chips and a coworker insists on distracting my opponent by pondering the exact odds for such a comeback between two evenly matched players. Feel free to forward me your thoughts. My guess is it’s got to be about 1 in 250. As all dreams seem to, this one comes to a shocking halt. With K 5 and a rainbow flop of A K 7, I’m all in. Kow quickly calls and turns over about the worst thing besides a set I can imagine. Yes he not only has an Ace but he has a 5 to boot. Disgusted at my lost opportunity to lord this over him until --- well forever I flip over the next card and look at it before revealing it to my opponent and our spectator. To say that Kow was a bit disgusted when he saw my face light up like a pinball machine is something of an understatement. I hit my two outer on the turn. Laughing hysterically, I offer to take 30 of the 80 dollar prize pool before either of us realizes that I now actually have him out chipped. I have now beaten him out of at least 5 pots where I was all-in and I was a somewhat to gigantic underdog before the last card hit the board, and it wouldn’t be nearly as cool if it hadn’t ended that way. With 90 chips and the blinds at 10 20, Kow raises his button by 20. “Let’s end this.” I say, “I’m all in.” He quickly calls and turns over KQ of clubs, a slight dog to my unsuited A7. Kow, of course flops a queen only to watch his tourney flame out dramatically when two running diamonds makes my 7 a tourney clinching flush. Kow quickly grabs his 20 back out of the rack explaining that “there’s no way I’m paying for that.” Which is perfectly fine with me, as I plan to lord this over him every single day, until the end of time. My buddy turns to our spectator and says “Have you ever seen a more unbelievable pile of ….” To which he received the answer “I’m not really sure what you’re talking about. He clearly outplayed you.”
Suited_Up 2
LMFAO... The best part was "He clearly ouplayed you"Nothing pisses someone off more than losing to sheer luck...than having someone tell them they were outplayed. haha!
AKQJs_2o 0
Keith,You have an above average writing style, I really enjoyed reading your post.I hope you get your lost $20 worth in gloating capital and I think Kow was totally wrong to WELCH on his bet. You whooped his @$$ fair & square.Keep up the good work, if your prose is any indication of your play then I think you will be raking many more jackpots into your chip pile over the long haul.
