i seriously know they had to try their hardest to get this working the way they advertised. it just didn't happen obviously.i honestly say it'll be a while before you see a poker video game that actually plays the way a real poker game would. maybe with these next gen systems coming out/out now, there's a shot. but will there ever be developers competent enough to make that kind of game? not dissing the developers or anything, but it's one thing to know what it should do, and another to actually be able to fully grasp how to make it do it. even with the ubermachine ps3 and the right-hand man of xbox 360 now that could probably finally handle such a task, the game will only be as good as the developers can make it. and i don't know if they can make it as good as one would hope.and yeah, it's sad that this one may actually take a backseat to games like wpt/wsop/wcp 1 & 2, but it probably will, just because they offer other games, and this one only offers holdem.

YaI have the Wilson software but havn´t used it for a few years. It was interesting and I used it to work on parts of my limit game. This may be the same for NL. With such a long wait your hopes get up.

It's just one review, but obviously, it's not a great start! If the game has as many problems as that article indicates, it will mean that there was very poor execution on a brilliant idea.Unfortunate, but all too common with software and games in particular...

Not for nothing, but I deleted the Beta after the first day of playing it. It's fun and all, but when it comes down to it - it's PLAY MONEY. Read that sentence again...PLAY MONEY. If you don't like it online against real people - what makes you wanna play it against a bunch of AI's?

Did anyone read the review? If so, did you get the impression that the person reviewing didnt quite know how to play poker. Especially when I read something to the effect of there weren't enough people playing preflop, especially with small blinds. That strikes me as said reviewer expects 4 to 5 people playing in a pot preflop, which doesnt exactly seem right.

Interesting...the first half of that review sounds a lot like marketing spiel... Also, he totally rips the graphics and audio, yet he scored them at 6.1 and 5.4 on a 1-10 scale? Seems a bit odd... what would it take to get a 1?
Review doesn´t sound independant. But wait and see

well the first review doesn't look good. I'll probably rent it anyway. I hope it turns out okay.

The IGN reviewer sounds like an idiot when it comes to the AI...

For example, on one occasion I had 8-6 off-suit, so Daniel tells me to be careful about raising before the flop because I'd have to fold if anyone re-raised. Sounds good, so I just call.
Now I'm no expert...wait, yes I am...you FOLD 8-6 OFFSUIT!!
How many Google searches did it take to find a positive review????!

This could be a key observation. A review by a decent poker player may be quite different. He was probably expecting it to be like his home game: "Hey. why doesnt 2 pair beat 3 of a kind????"

I dunno, I gave it a pretty similar review except I didn't listen when it said go ahead and call with 6-8 off. The bet drag-bar really is sickly difficult, the AI's are mediocre, the avatar creation was wack, that linear menu is a pain in the @ss...I stick by my previous statement though, it's just another way to entertain yourself with PLAY money - how good could it be. The recreational or learning players will mostly enjoy it, the avid poker player will generally not.

I feel bad for DN. This has been so long in the making and it's not his fault entirely if the reviews continue to be negative. Pulling something like this off is incredibly difficult. And reviews are subjective as he11. How many times have you been to a movie that was supposed to be suck @ss but instead turns o.k.? Not saying this is the greatest poker game ever, I have no idea, but common, it is a video game.I say buy the game and decide for yourself.I hope you sell a gob-zillion units D. :club:

when a movie keeps pushing its opening back its a pretty good indication its going to be a mess - check out town and country with warren beattyI feel bad for Daniel but if its really this bad then his constantly saying it would be the best poker game out there by a mile really hurts his credibility with me - unless he can't legally say he was disappointed in it. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt - but how can you release a game that tells you to go all in with 2 6?
