Who Here Has Played In A Wsop Or Wpt Tourney?

Recommended Posts

I qualified to the WPT Foxwoods event (the one Schluman won) through a $24+$2=$200+$20 FullTilt Poker satellite.I'm also going to be in the 1,500 WSOP event this year, and I MIGHT do the 1,500 Razz event, that is if I can get someone to stake me or do well at cash games in the next month or so.

i played in two of the the WSOP circuit events at harrah's in san diego as my first live tournaments aside from home games and the 2am at the alladin. i came in 24th in the first event out of 455 which paid $670 on my $330 entry (but i had to give $67 to my buddy because we traded 10% of each other. i also had to fill out IRS forms in order to collect the money, so in the end i played for 10 hours for $273 profit - not so great, but it was fun. the next day i couldn't get anything going but still managed to come in 39th out of 180 in the $500 buy (top 18 got paid), yeah i know TP/MM.

Does anyobody know if online qualifiers can play the satellite tournaments for cash? The Pokerstars site says:For the time being, there is no official agreement with the host casino to offer cash or lammers for on-site WSOP satellites if you have already won a seat on PokerStars. If you have already won a satellite on PokerStars and subsequently win a WSOP satellite at the host casino, it is up to you to work out a solution with casino management. Does anyone know how that worked last year?

Im not sure but I would also like to know. It would be nice to win another ME seat and use the tournament $ to buy into preliminary events.

Not nearly enough. :-)I finished 10th in Aruba, for 20k. Horrible pay out structure, but that's life.Prior to Aruba, I played the WSOP ME last year and finished in 750th place or so. Trip report here: http://groups.google.com/group/rec.gamblin...003ff7d03169ecf
Fantastic read! (well written as well as interesting)I wish I could find more stories from "average joes" like this. Thanks for sharing.

I played in a WPT 500 entry fee tourney. I won a 65$ sat.Robert Williamson III called my 4x BB raise with 59d I had AA. He called my all in on the flop. He got a flush and a straight draw on the flop. He caught an 8 to get a straight on the river. That crippled me then I had top pair with no kicker. A guy didn't know how many chips I had and raised me about all in. He had a 3 outer and caught it on the river.A pretty sight to see...a fat bearded man with tears in his eyes driving home.

Im pretty sure there are only 4 stud tournaments at this years WSOP. One is 5k buy-in, so I wont be playing that. One is Razz, and I would rather shoot myself than play that. There is a stud hi/lo and a stud hi event with $1500 and $1000 buy-ins that I might play, but not for sure yet.

PM,You interested in coming by my home game sometime in Redwood City? Talk poker and whatnot, lots of good guys. I was in WSOP on 1c with ya last year, busted out end of the first day. I had a good run recently with some big 5 figure cashes and won my seat for this year's ME. (1b this year thankfully....) I'll be headin out for most of the prelim events. I'm sure we have a few acquaintences i common between bay101 and online poker. Anyway, shoot me an email at brian@darm.com

[bad beat story warning] I played in one of the prelim events at the Bally's Circuit event. Highlight of the tourney: crippling Doug Lee. I was probably top 10 in chips with 70 left out of 600 or so runners, was dealt KK and AA within 5 hands of each other and lost both, all-in pre-flop. KK vs. AQ, then AA vs. AK. IGHN.

I'm playing in the $1000 NLHE event on August 3-4. I'll be the deadest money the WSOP has ever seen, but I'll enjoy it. Back in the day, it used to be blowing $1000 at the OG or the Crazy Horse II, but now I'm happily married so I'll blow it on good clean fun instead!

I think it actually looks kinda neat, and adds to a pretty intimidating table image that he already seems to have. They look kinda like my paintball gloves, too.
