Lack Of Discipline = Inability To Lay Down Q's

Recommended Posts

I layed down QQ on the flop vs KKhe even showed me the KK cuz i said, i cant believe i'm laying down queens. You were lost in that hand, and had no idea where the hell you were.Make a larger raise, you're forcing people with big hands to re-raise, or flat call with aces or kings. In which case you gain more info on the flopflop comes lower than Q, 1st mistake is to bet. He raises, you call., or re-raise and are still lost. or in trouble.EDIT : sorry, i should have stated its case dependant, obviously without any real knowledge of the table or players, and the type of game, a lead out bet will be correctMy option here is always check, I know this opens up the possibilty of him checking behind and a K, or A falling., but u have to take that risk, and assume that only hands you will scare out with a bet are weak aces, lower Pocket pairs that havent hit a set.If he holds anything decent like KK, AA or a set, boat, trips etc.. you check/raise here, he makes some choices now. 1 - folds with nothing, 2- calls and then you're probably in trouble. 3 - raises you, and he'll more than likely have the goods, With a preflop raise, and a check raised flop., he cant committ more chis unless he's strong.
Royal, I agree with everything you're saying for perhaps a cash game at the $2/$4 level and above. However, this is a $5 re-buy tourney. I've seen this same play made by people with 77 a lot more often than KK. Its always going to be tough to put most people on hands at this level. I play this level all the time and final table one almost every day (check my rail threads). I agree that the pre-flop play was horrendous! On the other hand, I've seen people limp with 44 and when the pot gets raised and it comes back around to them, they move all-in. I also see them do this with AA or KK. Bottom line, if you thought your QQ was good pre-flop, its most likely still good post flop with this board. You've just got to go with your gut and push this situation. If he's got Kings or Aces then so be it. If it were me, I'd have probably gotten all the money in pre-flop or if I flat called, I'm just making sure that no A or K comes on the flop before pushing the flop.
