His name was Joe Stillman and yes he was a complete donk, but somehow finished in like 80th or 150th place. The last hand was soo donkish when he pushes all in with an ace on the board with pocket deuces then says how he can't believe the guy called the raise with A-10.
I believe when he was bitching, he was complaining about the guy calling the pre-flop raise, not his push after the flop. Aside from that he certainly acted like a donk, on some of the other hands. Earlier he called Fergueson's pre-flop all-in with K-9.And to the guy calling Raymer a donk, didn't he settle any arguments about his skill by finishing 25th the very next year?

nd to the guy calling Raymer a donk, didn't he settle any arguments about his skill by finishing 25th the very next year? No.Did daniel settle arguments by finishing out of the money two years in a row? Does that mean he sucks? It's constantly shocking how many people post on poker message boards that don't understand tournament variance at all.good luck.

Well I think he is a good player, but yes two good finishes mean nothing. If he made 25th 25 years from now, people would think nothing of it, but since it was the year after he won it means he is great. His ability has been shown in many cash games, and several other tournies, on-line and live.

Um, Smash... surely you realize that finishing out of the money two years in a row is far less indicative of suckitude than finishing in the money two years in a row is of kickassness. That is to say, neither Negreanu nor Raymer are donks.

I definitely have my money on a pro for the 50K horse event...Should be a lot at the final table and will make for an interesting show.
Well duhhh...the event will only be participated by the pros. Not all the pros, much less amateurs, know all the games well enough to put up $50K.

Most likely a no name pro or semi-pro.

Barbara Enright final tabled in 1995. She took an ugly beat to get knocked out too.

I honestly think it will be a real pro this time. I know the odds are long, but over 6 or 7 days of poker they will have the advantage.

I was going to make a comment about how they had made a rule change to not include luck this year and so Phil Hellmuth was a shoe-in, but I decided against it.The odds are against the pros. Even if everybody who's ever won a WSOP bracelet (Stu Ungar included) was at the ME, then they'd still be outnumbered by everyone else by a fair margin. It's simply hard to fight your way through something like that, it's like racing through waist deep water.Side note: I think one of the biggest signs of the explosive growth of poker is that Steve Danneman has won more on the WSOP with one 2nd place ME finish than Johnny Chan, with 10 bracelets (2 in the ME). And whoever wins this year could possibly win more than the previous three winners combined. It's amazing.

Josh Schlein (sp?)To be honest, I like this prediction the best of all I've read.

do you know what episode # of the ME that this is?
Joe Stillman busted in one of the episodes before the final 30 with Ivey and Raymer. So my guess would be episode 7 or 8 of the main event.
