BoxingCritic 1 Posted May 10, 2006 Share Posted May 10, 2006 I just went through this on my forum which is pretty big.To remove the virus that gets uploaded through a jpg - Download the index.php file for your forum and delete a bit of code at the very top that's an inserted iframe. It's a redirect that gets people to the virus. Also, remove any recent avatars that have been uploaded.I contacted invision and they are updating my board version to the most current which they say is not as vulnerable.But that's how you get rid of it. (Make sure there are no fees associated with the account) Go to your local branch and have them disable any kind of overdraft protection on this account. Transfer funds into this account only when you are making an instacash deposit. Transfer funds out of this account as soon as they are received from your Neteller EFT. Also, don't keep a lot of money in your Neteller account.Software:First, You should be using Mozilla Firefox as your web browser. You also should be using some sort of anti-virus software. Norton and McAfee are popular commercial options. I would go with the open-source ClamWin or freeware AVG .Use different passwords for all accounts where you make transactions. Use a program like Password Safe to encrypt/remember all of the passwords on your computer. Change your passwords regularly, and use strong passwords only.Download Ad-Aware, Spybot, and HijackThis to monitor files and processes on your computer.Download PeerGuardian to block connections to known malicious IP address. I've been using that instead of adaware and spybot simply because it's been catching problems that the other two programs have missed. In fact, this is the only anti-spyware/virus software I've been using for awhile and have never noticed any issues.Course, I am going to run another scanner with all these issues going on, but I was hoping someone could tell me if Windows Defender is actually as good as I believe it is (or if it's just crap) Link to post Share on other sites

Neteller is a secure site for the most part, but like anything really, it can be hacked.Again...Simply keep seperate passwords for all your different accounts. Do not leave any passwords on your computer, or in old emails. Write them out, copy the paper, keep it right by your computer. Bam.So if you havn't changed your passwords in a while, do it. Use numbers, make up words, do whatever and you should be alright. The poster above me offered good advice as well. Just keep up to date with protecting yourself and you should be fine. Neteller isn't like some "trash" site that lets this happen all the time. I do the same thing and keep a seperate bank account *only* for onlince transfers that has a $0 balance. When it is at the same branch as your *real* account, you should be able to transer between your fake acount and your real account instantaneously, allowing it to be a buffer from fraud.I also keep $0 in my Neteller account, but I actually think they are VERY secure compared to most online accounts. The only problem comes when you end up giving your Act# adn SecureId to online poker sites. If someone created a fake poker sitethen they could easily steal money from you once they got your info, which is why I say $0 in Neteller. Link to post Share on other sites

I ended up talking to Eugene like everyone else. The money went to Casino net ....Thing is, I've been active in this thread checking for spyware everyday and changed my password on Neteller to be VERY secure (only kept it in my head) and I never downloaded this rake calculator thing. This sucks, I thought this was over!! Anyway, I logged in an hour after it happened and checked my online checking account statement and it hadn't hit yet....So I put a restraint on my checking account and have to go in and open a new one... I didn't have a 24h poker account and never made a deposit that large. We were able to work it out and they gave me a call this past friday asking me some questions. They are investigating it I can assure you. That poker software scam that just got busted up is a big concern too.
