mtdesmoines 3
"he supposedly plays $5k a pull slot machines."The only thing more stupid would be a $10,000 slot machine. "have any of you come close to a $60 million dollar loss?"I keep losing the Powerball jackpots. Does that count as a $60 million dollar loss? You know, somewhere inside that $60 million is a salary for a couple people to stay with Daly, every day, whereever he goes, whose only job is to say, "John, it's time to leave.""whats the msot youve ever seen anyone lose at the casino?" I don't sit and watch long enough. But I know that casinos are big and people are small, and it's been that way for a long time ... so someone is losing.
Entrepeneur 0
Didn't think it was that much he lost, but it seemed like Calloway had covered his gambling losses at one point and they were pretty big. From what I've understood, he did play the big slots in the High Rollers section. I thought they were the $500 slots, but haven't been in there to see if there's a $5,000 machine....Who knows.Slightly...(sw) inflated story I would guess, but I do remember him talking about losing pretty insane amounts of money on slots.. turd ferguson 1
This is a pretty sad story. JD seems like a really decent guy, but he has a lot of issues. I feel bad for him.
FatBurger 0
DN seemed to think it wasn't true, and the only thing Google has to say about a $5000 slot is on Plinko.

chester97 0
cmon now, anyone who's followed daly knows that he lost probably 1 million gambling, 29 million on buying drinks at the casino, and 30 million trying to tip enough to get one of the waitresses to sleep with him. He has almost has an identical personality to the late chris farley. i once heard chris farleys addiction problems described as pistons in an engine. once he got one under control, another would get t be a big problem. be his weight, coke, gambling. it sucks too, cause both were and are really good guys. grocery_mony 8
cecil fielder lost 50 million playing in atlantic city over a period of time so i think it is possible that this is true. especially with daly who makes millions a year in endorsements but is always broke. he says it was over a 12 year period which would average out to 5 million a year which is very possible. I forget what... Cold Pizza maybe, they went through his golf earnings from some point... it was NOWHERE near that... maybe 3 million... and he hasn't been getting very many endorsements for awhile. It's way way way beyond possible.

It's way way way beyond possible.I think it's somewhere around $5 mill. It's not like the casino's wouldn't let him sign for markers though. I'm not going to say it's not possible, but it just doesn't seem right. Also, boosting the number to promote the book makes sense.

HoosierAlum 0
Barkley was just on ESPN and said what we all know, that it is impossible for Daly to have lost $60 million. I agree with what he said, that its probably closer to around 20 million.Barkley also mentioned that he has lost around $10 million gambling. He said he loves the feeling of "beating" the casino.Somebody needs to teach these guys poker. They would be able to get their competitive fix, and actually have a shot (albeit slim) of winning. Unless they were playing in the big game they would be saving alot of money by taking up poker.
vonteego3 0
Daly has made over 10 million in golf earnings in his career... and considering he signed a 10 million dollar deal with Wilson in 91, I wouldn't be at all surprised if his career endorsement earnings are well over 70-80 million. I'm sure I could do the research and get a more accurate number, but I'm too lazy. Losing 50-60 million of it isn't implausible at all.
TheMathProf 0
This is just a downswing, some negative variance.John Daly is a winning slots machine player!
Oziumrules 0
As far as Im concerned, John Daly is the luckiest guy on earth....When was the last time you saw an overweight, alcoholic, gambling addict, manic depressive professional golfer (who has won 2 major championships)with 3 ex-wives have so much success?
