What does it mean when the cable modem power light is flashing, all the other lights are on, but the computer won't connect to the internet.
I'll tell you if I can fly one of your planes. And try unplugging the modem and restarting the computer.

when that happens, i usually try resetting the power and connections on my modem, ie turn off and back on, unplugging and re-plugging all cords into the back of the modem, often works, just as often it is merely a lost internet connection.

Thanks guys, but still no luck, I installed the software, turned it all off unplugged it all, plugged it back in turned the modem on then the computer, in that order and still no luck.Frusturating for sure. The modem and cables are all brand new, 10 min old.

sometime you gotta get really technical with electronic devices, so when that occurs, i usually get a baseball bat and repeatedly hit it until i am so tired i dont feel like using the internet anymore.

Sounds like a case of fried modem to me, or a faulty AC-adapter.
its not a power issue, id say its a connection to th ecmputer issue, OR your internet might not be set up properly at the ISP end..this frequently happens to me for 2-3 hrs at a time when my isp donks off my internet connection

DSL or Time Warner? Which light is flashing? How did you post the messages? If you can post dial-up, the computer is ok. Call your provider, it is their problem.

Unfortunatly It is not the modem or power pack, everything is working fine, there is some stupid number called HFC MAC ID that someone somewhere needs to know to make things work.

should be printed on the bottom/back of the modem, maybe on a white sticker. Something along the lines of 00:XX:XX:XX:XX

if you need the MAC id #, do thisstart -> runtype cmdat the dos prompt type ipconfig /allthat will give you your computers mac address, listed under "ethernet adapter local area connection". its listed as "Physical address"/should be something like xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx (6 sets of two digits/letters)Patrick

that will only tell you the physical address for your network card... the MAC you can get from your modem by typing 192.168.100.1 into your web browser than go to the addresses section, that will tell you the hfc mac...and when the power light flashes, and ds, us, and online are solid that means the modem has not been registered.... i work for a cable company.you can register it yourself if they gave you a cd, if not you'll have to call time warner. they dont stay open 24 hrs?

He is right. Some companies require the modem MAC address to be registered while others require the Computer or Router MAC address to be registered. Either way it should just be a simple phone call.... when they open.
