Starting with a fairly small BR (about 200) what would be the best suggestions for building this up? Ive been playing just small home games for the past couple of years, enough to never really need a job and keep me happy during the summers, but now I would like to get a decent br going. I mostly play hold'em live, but online I play a decent amount of PLO8, but that was just taking shots with like $50 online total. I'm willing to play basically everything, MTT's, SNG's, full ring and shorthanded hold'em and omaha. I think the easiest way would be to play $25 PLO8, but I know that I don't have a big enough br. Should I just grind out low limit hold'em til I have enough to move over to plo8?

I would probably recommend starting out playing .5/1 LHE shorthanded. Your bankroll is still a little light for that but I would probably start there anyways

I'd start with .25/.50, only having 2 buy-ins is never a good idea. at least if you start at the .50 level you'd have 4 buy-ins, which is still very low, but sustainable. are we talking you are only prepared to BR yourself $200? meaning one $200 deposit and then that's it? if this is the case, i'd start at the .25 level. as far as sng's go as well as MTT's, I'd say the $5 range or lower.

If you lose the $200, can you deposit more? If so, try the $5 buy in MTTs. I had a really small bankroll, but then I got 1st and 3rd in 2 big tournaments and now I can play 2-4 and 100NL. The major key is, discipline.

If you like limit, bonus whore. I've built my roll from 200 to almost 6k since sept without reloading by bonus whoring and one 1k tourney cash.

Playing limit HE isn't entirely necessary to effectively bonus whore. Alot of bonuses out there can be done in low stakes NLH, just may take a little longer.

bonus whoring is 50x more effective if you play limit than nl

I have never played limit, but it seems like it would take forever.I started with a pretty small bankroll of $50.00 and now have about 4700.00. I built it playing nl and pl holdem and MTT's I have also won a litte playing sit and go's. Started at .10-.10 and now play 1-1 NL. At these levels there is little need to be crafty or cute, just wait for big hands and get your money in the middle. It is really amazing what will happen. Here is an example from yesterday morning.Texas Hold'em $1-$2 NL (real money), hand #367,178,105Table Tripoli, 15 Apr 2006 10:58 AM ETSeat 1: briv0086 ($89.50 in chips)Seat 2: squash30 ($92.00 in chips)Seat 3: HERO [ AH,KC ] ($219.20 in chips)Seat 4: Buffner ($107.00 in chips)Seat 5: CptCrunch0 ($110.60 in chips)Seat 6: mago12351 ($11.45 in chips)Seat 7: kruk01 ($48.00 in chips)Seat 8: Villian ($100.00 in chips)Seat 9: stonecold 77 ($97.40 in chips)Seat 10: Barthoz ($103.10 in chips)ANTES/BLINDSkruk01 posts blind ($0.50), Villian posts blind ($1).PRE-FLOPstonecold 77 folds, Barthoz folds, briv0086 folds, squash30 folds, HERO $4, Buffner folds, CptCrunch0 folds, mago12351 folds, kruk01 folds, Villian $3.FLOP [board cards 10H,JD,QD ]Villian bets $6, Hero bets $215.20 and is all-in, Villian calls $90 and is all-in.TURN [board cards 10H,JD,QD,8D ]RIVER [board cards 10H,JD,QD,8D,4H ]SHOWDOWNHERO shows [ AH,KC ] StraightVILLIAN shows [ QS,AS ] TPTKHERO wins $317.70.Mind you he does not pause to think what i might have or anything... Instacalls. I got 170.00 off that player that session.

Limit is easier to clear because the pots are bigger, you get more raked pots then you do in NL. Many times in NL it is a raise and then fold, and the pot isn't raked, so that doesn't count as a hand.

Before you start bonus whoring poker, build up a better roll to get the full bonus. You'll need $500 to fully take advantage of poker. If I could do my start over again, I would take your $200 and do some of the better casino deals out there. Taking your money and doing the casino deals in my blog, you can make $600 in the next week in just a few hours for each one. Just follow the directions listed and you should be able to come out ahead. I've done all of the deals there and the sites are all reputable. Then when you finish those and are ready to play poker, go whore away.

the best way is probably limit O8. every single hand goes down to the river with a rake even at the very small limits. and at the small stakes nobody knows how to play O8 so u can make a little that way too.

That hand was played at FCP. All of my BR except for 300.00 was earned at FCP.The other 300 is at FTP and is mainly the result of one 18 person 30.00 sit and go i won friday.

Im willing to deposit more if I need to, but right now I have $200 that I built up from a free $50 from gaming club poker. Im about to move to noble poker because my friend has a deal with them so we will both be making money. Im probably just going to start with .25/.50 or .50/1 limit plus $5 SNGs and $5 MTTs
