I was watching Calvin Ayer's Wildcard Poker tonight and thought it was pretty obvious that Daniel is the "Wildcard". They described the secret "wildcard player" who will be added to the final table as someone that everyone else has to get through to win the tourney. They just showed a sillouette (sp?) of the player and disguised his voice, but it sure seemed like DN to me. Anyone else think that?

This is not what we're talking about. We're talking about a show called "Calvin Ayer's Wildcard Poker" that is sponsored by Bodog poker. The first episode aired this evening on Fox Sports.

I think he knows that, he just wanted to show an example where other pros are participating in an event that is sponsored by a rival of the sites those pros represent.

This was filmed the weekend of DN's double-secret trip so I would say it's a safe bet.

what are u guys talking about?details please.
Basically its a tourney / freeroll funded by Calvin Something the CEO of Bodog who has this "compound" which resembles the playboy mansion in Costa Rica. There are 9 single table tournies and the winner of each receives 50K and a seat at the 500K final table. The field is basically a mix of online qualifiers, pros, and actors/actresses. Last nite was the first time I ever saw it and the pros were Humberto and E-Dog. It is called Wild Card Poker and the twist is that Calvin put his own horse "The Wildcard" at the final table to take it down and cost him no money. They showed the wildcards figure blacked out and with a voice alter but the shape looked like DN a little. The show was ok and "The Compound" is just laced w/ chicks in bikinis to keep the interest.

Pretty sure that there are only 5.
Anyone else think Calvin is 'compensating' for something?
The no-sleeves button-down shirt he wore when he was "cribbin'" the compound was pretty funny.

He struck me as a rich socially handicapped guy who is trying to relieve an emptyness in his lack of a social life. A. Hes giving away money to get entice celebrities/poker pros. Ok, promotional stuff for the site.B. Hes expanded his business into things that just strike me as goofy. They had a bodog recording artist doing some of the music for the show... Hip hop type stuff... Seems like hes just trying to be cool.... Maybe just more hypage for the site.C. When he spoke to the players at the table he just seemed nervous and awkward, not really knowing what to say.D. He seemed like a middle aged guy who was trying to be cool when they did the tour of his house.(the shirt is my primary piece of evidence).Survey Says:Calvin Ayre is a wannabie hipster doofus

  • 4 weeks later...
My favorite moment was when the chick called Laak's all-in with trip Aces vs his nut flush & thought she won the hand.
It was painful how she kept hanging around the table and trying to get everyone to assure her that she didn't make an idiotic move...even though she did. She was also hitting on the married guy a lot with his wife in the room. Awkward. I really think she must've been drunk or something.Oh, and conveniently, Arieh, Williams, and Ng all won their tables and all happen to be Bodog poker pros. Calvin Ayre's Wild Card Poker is rigged! Seriously though...I guess they probably signed Ng after this event.
