My Last Weekend Living In Vegas

Recommended Posts

Well, today marks my last day living in Vegas. I fly out Monday to start a new job in Michigan. My plan for the weekend is to hit up all my favorite card rooms. Probably MGM, GVR, Monte Carlo, Bellagio and then I will probably try out the new Venitian room.I am going to head out tonight around 8 and probably try to put in a 12 hour session and then the same thing on Saturday night. And if I get bored on Sunday evening...probably go play again. This is going to be a good move personally, but a tough move, poker wise. Instead of having 5 casinos within 15 minutes, the closest in Michigan will be Mt. Pleasant, MI (2 hours), Windsor, ON (3 hours) or Chicago (3 hours). I haven't played online much since I moved here for obvious reasons, but I have a feeling that will change.Anyways, there really isn't a point to this email except to make everybody feel bad for me. Where in Michigan? Detroit has a few card rooms that were soft as hell when I played there. Also you might be able to find a "private card club" in or near your town. Even a city like Toledo, OH has several underground rooms, so you should be able to find something.

I will be living in Grand Rapids. I have actually been to the card room in Greektown but I did not care for it much. I have also been to MGM in Detroit, but I only played table games.I lived in Grand Rapids about 2.5 years ago and was never really able to find an underground room, but I am sure you are probably right now with the poker boom over the last few years. Thanks for the idea.

Good luck on the new job and transition. Better start stocking up on the warm clothing now!Phlat________ :club:
Thanks Phlat. Luckily I knew when I came to Vegas I would probably end up going back to Michigan, so I kept all of my warm clothes in a box in my closet. Weather wise I am leaving at a great time...we hit the upper 80's here yesterday and I sweated my *** off walking around yesterday and Michigan just got into the mid 60's this week, which is perfect weather there.

Good luck with the move. I'm from Michigan and it's about 82 degrees here today, so you'll be coming back to more warm weather most likely!I'm sure there's gotta be some card rooms in the G.R area, it just takes some time to find em. I know there's many all over Toledo, which is just a few minutes from my house, so it works out pretty good for me. What didn't you like much about Greektown? 1/2 there is so soft you're bound to walk out of there ahead more than often.Maybe some of us could meet up there one day and either play in their daily tournament or do some cash.. Detroit is only 45min-1hr from me so I'm more than willing to make the drive.

I am not sure what I didn't like about Greektown, I just remember leaving there unstatisfied. It was probably about 3 years ago and I was so young and immature in my poker life that there probably wasn't a good reason. I remember I finished just about even after about 3 hours of play.I would definitely be up for a get together sometime. Obviously it is a little longer of a drive, but there are enough things to do in Detroit to make a weekend out of it, at least on my part.

Man...If you're 3hrs from both Windsor & Chicago (Actually Hammond or Gary) they must be sending you to some remote part of Michigan near the middle. I lived in the Detroit suburbs & it was only 40 min to Windsor (Minus the donking around near the tunnel) & 4 hrs to the Indiana Casinos. I can't think of a populous place in Michigan that would be a crap shoot between Chicago & Windsor. Where they sending you if you don't mind?Like mentioned earlier, you will be coming back to some great weather. You can join the rest of us now by getting excited when you book your Vegas vacation.

Alright...my estimations were a little off. I am moving to Grand Rapids (mildly populous city in Michigan standards) and according to Yahoo it is 2 hours and 37 minutes to Hammond and about 2 hours and 30 minutes to Windsor. Either way, it is still a crap shoot between the two.

And that's depending on the traffic. The weather is really nice today. Hopefully we are finally getting spring.I take it you went to GrandValley. Hope your job works out well for you here. Welcome back!

I go up to GR alot and will be this Sunday. I live in Royal Oak which is about 15 minutes from Greektown and maybe about 25-30 from Windsor depending on tunnel traffic. It takes me about 2hrs and 25 minutes to get to GR. Pretty easy shot down 96 to 696 to 75.

You could PM Ckbandit. I know he mentioned a game a while back. I think he still has it going.I don't think Daniel and/or Lori know of anything here. Lori really isn't into playing.

Great part of Michigan to live...& LOL on the time down to the minute for travel. This info page was the best I could come up with on gambling in Michigan.http://www.michigan.org/travel/attractions...=2;1&city=G3095When I lived there the Detroit casinos were not an option so Windsor was the best choice. I would still think those are the best options as it was like taking a vacation (Good people, clean rooms though smoking was allowed).Good luck.
