My 2 cents not that it matters:Mods like Custom are killing the forum.. I signed up a friend of mine at work today and told him to flame the army thread(he posted a quote from Team America: World Police but didn't comment on the quote), since I knew they would go ape ****... (I was right)... And custom goes off on us as if we're breaking the rules or something... wonderful mod. Considering he makes up his own rules whenever it suits him... and just so we're clear. I don't care that the Army thread regulars gave us crap, but a mod shouldn't try to drive people away... isn't that the opposite of what they should do? yes.Here's the first of many responses by custom:

What's very interesting is that I can read. And that no where in the 'rules' can I see anything about multiple accounts. It took me 3 minutes to find multiple sexually oriented pictures that custom has posted, and many posts where he cusses. Interesting. That may be true, but all he did was post a quote from Team America: World Police. He didn't even comment on it, he just posted the quote. But in the Army thread that is spamming, as everyone knows.

How is posting a quote against the rules? And further, I am not a mod, and I certainly don't have a reason to treat people nicely. It's not my job to make the community a wonderful place for all people. But, even though it isn't my job, I was helping to expand the forum by inviting new people. Is posting in the Army thread against the rules Hobbes? no. Well wait... maybe Custom made up that rule.

Don't change this into "posting a quote" when your original statement was "flame the **** out of them." Your intentions may have not been against the rules, but they were against common decency. I don't really know any of the army members nor have I ever posted in there, that's not why I responded. I just wish everyone was a little more respectful of others. Of course, I wish society in general was more respectful, but that's just how I see it.

Again, I think I already covered the fact that I'm not a mod, and it's not my job to expand the forum by being inclusive of all people... Who's job IS that though? not a personal jab at anyone, but the main problem i've noticed with the forum lately is all the regulars complaining about general, and the forum as a whole.the content is not quite as good as a few months ago, but i don't think the differences are large. nor do i think the regulars are criticisizing it in any constructive way, just whining about how general sucks.frankly, i don't think the content in general has gotten significantly worse recently, except it is missing some of the good discussion topics like sports, strategy, at-work complaining, etc that has found new homes.

Agree in part. To me it seems the "old school" posters dont like the "new school" that joins. They forget that at one point they were new to the forum as well & took a while to get the flow.

I still like this forum.Granted it's not the same as it was.To me it's always been just a forum. I guess I don't take it as serious as some others.I'm not really sure if DN exploited "us" or not. I don't see him doing that, but whatever. I've always looked at the forum as just a forum...mehIt was better back in the day though. Strategy was a TON better. I still hang out in strat and it's really nothing compared to what it was.I used to post on RGP n 2+2 some, but don't really anymore. RGP is pretty lame, and 2+2 I just got bored of.FCP still keeps me entertained..but to be honest, the main thing that I've gotten outta this forum are a few "e-friends" that I chat with on AIM, or in other blogs.Maybe one day I'll pass paths with a few of these guys, who knows, hit up a casino or something...I guess that's it...as I said, I still enjoy this site for the most part...- Jordan

I have to agree with you. Early on, I was more of a lurker than anything else. Still, the sense of community here by the folks who have been around before the Charter membership took off is pretty great. I give kudos to Daniel for all he has done with FCP. Adding the poker room has only given the community another avenue for bonding and being competitive with each other. Also, as I have read in thread after thread, Daniel tends to take time out when meeting people at events who identify themselves as community members. I for one, take FCP for what it's worth, and enjoy it.

if you really think that teneight and redpill deserved to stay around then I don't know what to say. Teneight was just asking to be gone for a long time, and finally the last straw happened. Redpill had been pretty much a worthless "contributor" and his banning resulted in his own spamming of the forum left and right and then his completely ignoring the mods asking him to stop repeatedly. Saying that because of them being gone the forum has gone downhill is very silly IMO. There are better reasons for people saying what they are saying and one of the best things that was done was teneight's banning. Also look at how redpill has been banned from every single board that he posted on, once is one thing, but a second time becomes a trend and so forthedit: I'd also like to address you having your friend reg here. I really didn't care what he did, but the premise behind it is rather dumb is it not. Just to mess with some people, um okay. DOn't you have something better to do then that. I've been around for a while and have a nice number of posts, but I'm not as involved as others. There are certain people at this forum (custom being one of them) that I respect. Not because of their devotion to DN or even poker skill, but simply because they're great people.When you're a new person here, you have to gain respect. When I was a new poster, I tried to not piss off the regulars. You say reasonable, intelligent things. You actually add something to the discussion. You post hands in strat. Generally, you don't conduct yourself as a doucheclown. If you do those things, the "old schoolers" will take a liking to you. Now, I talk to a few FCP'ers on a semi-regular basis on IM. I've met a few in casinos. I hope to stay in Vegas during the WSOP with a few this summer. Posting at FCP really can lead to some lasting and meaningful friendships. Look at the Army.I don't spend as much time around the forums as I used to because, frankly, some of the new people are ridiculous. You conduct yourselves like douchebags and it doesn't make things very enjoyable.I don't know if this had a point. Man, I'm tired.
