yeffy 0
This hand came up in a 20/40 OE game at foxwoods. During the O8 round an older guy sat down on my left who was waiting for 20/40 holdem. He asked the guy on his left a few questions that made it clear he didn't know the game well at all. A few hands later the following hand came up.I'm the BB and dealt A 2 5 6 there are 3 limpers, the small blind completes and I check.Flop: 3 4 10 I bet right out and much to my chagrine the new guy on my left raises. I had hoped for a larger field with such a big draw and bet out because the game had been fairly passive. Everyone folded back to me so I decided to start building a pot heads up and 3 bet. The new guy 4 bet and I called.Turn: (3 4 10 ) A So now I have the nuts, with a higher straight redraw and the nut flush redraw. I bet it right out, he raises I reraise, he reraises on and on. I make it 6 bets, and when he makes it 7 bets I pause. I have the nuts with a double nut redraw, my only fear is that he has AA25 TT25 3325 or 4425. These are the only hands that are live against mine. I smooth call hoping for a safe river or better yet a spade, 2, 5, 6, or 7.River: (3 4 10 A ) 3 Ewwww the board pairs and I fear I am getting quartered in this huge pot. With $720 in the middle I check and call a bet. Result: (highlight to read) He had a wheel with no redraws and I was on a 100% freeroll on the turn.My question is, against a player who is weak in O8, do I ever slow down in this hand on the turn? Holding the nuts with a double nut redraw should I put every penny in the middle?
greatwhite 0
I think I would have raised preflop. A256 (ace suited) is a pretty good hand. As for postflop, I wouldn't slow down. Why? More often then not you are freerolling here. If he has a set you are more likely to hit your higher straight or flush.

I dunno if I would have stopped at 7 bets on the turn. Maybe up to 10 for me. River...yeah that sucks bad. I guess you can check/call here...but considering he has been asking questions on the game at the table...I might bet/call.This dude may think its like holdem and is terribly overvaluing AA....and sucked out on the river. moneytoburn 0
Stop when you run out of chips!!!!!!!!!Even if he has the best hand that can fight your hand AA25, you still have 10% positive equity. About 32% for you to take high, while only 22% for him. This is a dream situation, there was no reason to stop. Unless underolled and afraid of the variance, you should have continued to raise till its all in the middle ..............
greatwhite 0
Yeah, I could never stop raising the turn. Even if they had 25TT, with the 2 and 5 of spades you'd be the favorite to win the high. This is worst case scenario.
JacKingOff_suit 0
Hey yeffy, nice works in the Foxwoods. Congrats! From what you wrote I truely believe you can make it. All the best man. I am kind of jealous because I am a married man living in the middle of shtty nowhere with no casinos close to where I live.I am pretty much with the others, except I will be more aggressive on the turn. Even if your opponent had a set+25 at best you were still having a thin edge over his hand because the outs of your redraw is better than the outs of his, and it's more likely he's having merely a wheel than others because most players in O8 way overplaying their hands and because of your read! But when you paused at 7 bets I think it's ok too.Now I've got some questions.I make it 6 bets, and when he makes it 7 bets I pause. I only play LO8 online, so it happens that in some live lo8 games there's no capping on each betting round?I've heard that live lo8 players suck, say the 20/40 players are worse than those playing 3/6 online?I will be going to Vegas this summer and I will probably be playing some 20/40 live lo8 if I can find some, the only problem I see is when playing online I can open 4 tables and wait for good hands, but live I may get bored and start playing junks (I think to overcome this I will be constantly telling myself to be patient and wait for a better investment opportunity I think! Looking for edges, not actions! )

(i was in the big blind, made quad 3's so it didn't qualify for jackpot). players are pretty bad at O8 live at least everywhere I've played. it's probably hurt my online game somewhat because i think there is always a chance for the high. ex: I had 2235 and after the turn the board read A87J. SB bet and got 5 callers (including myself), river comes a two, and i'm like oh great i got counterfeit, he bets and the same amount of callers. i scooped like $180 dollar pot. two had 3-6 and called for the low everyone else had 2 pair with no low draw. this was 6-12. good luck in vegas if you go this summer.
