Runner Runner Perfect

Recommended Posts

I had my first ever ultimate suckout today...the perfect two running cards to lose to. Fortunately, it only cost me a split pot in a heads up sit n go. It was only a $30 buyin that I was messing around in, so it was more entertaining to see than anything. Blinds were up to 50-100, my opponent only had 500 left, so I pushed from the button with J 4 suited and he called...dominated. Anyway...he had J 2 into a flop of 10 4 4 rainbow. The turn was a Jack filling me up, and the river was a Jack, filling us both up. The real point of this post is to ask if anyone else has been hit by the perfect runner runner in a pot, especially one that hurt more than this one.

are you supposed to be mario?
I don't know if I'm "supposed" to be Mario, but I dressed up as him for Breakfast Club. And so an avatar was born. And no, it's not a bad beat. J 4 is barely a favorite over J 2. But it is the largest possible lead to have in a hand without being 100%. Thus the interestingfulness.

I had queens in a 5-10 game a couple of months ago, and I raised up the BB who called. Flop was Q-10-5. he lead out and I raise, he 3 bet and I capped. Turn was a 4 and he did the same thing. River was a 4. Same deal. He had 4-4. Runner runner perfect to lose the hand. So to the question, yes it did happen to me.

Ouch, yeah that one definitely stings based on the way he played it. Even after he hit the 4 on the turn he should be somewhat afraid of being behind unless you cap it often.

I always love it when you have AK or AQ, and someone calls with A-junk, and you flop the kicker-kicker-Ace full house, get it all-in only to see him catch another Ace on the river for a split pot.Yeah, always make me feel nice :club:

Mine isn't the worst, i'm sure, but...I get KK, get it all in, only to have buddy runner-runner a str8 on me. He had pocket 8's. What did this get me? Knocked out of the last Grand Tournament. So...**** you and your shitty beat that isn't really a beat at all. :-) There, does that smile say "I'm kidding!"? SW

A lot of these aren't runner runner perfect at all...
i'm still thinkin of hellmuth vs. hoyt on the WPT where hoyt had J7 phil had J8. 8 on the flop, phil bets, hoyt raises, phil calls. 7 on the turn, check check. 7 on the river. phil checks, hoyt bet, phil called, went on a tirade of "i had you drawing stone dead to running 7's."great hand.

I remember reading on card player for the 2004 WSOP (i think) where the money got in after the flop, guy 1 floped quads, guy 2 had a pocket pair (higher than guy 1) and went runner runner to finish with higher quads. This hand stuck in my head and I was disapointed that it wasn't on ESPN :club:
