My First Big Payday

Recommended Posts

Finally, after going deep in several big fields over the past few months, i came through with a win...Won the 15k guaranteed at Golden Palace Poker to the tune of $4708... all this after one of the worst poker weekends of my life. Lost almost a grand in cash games, and was one one of the worst sng streaks of my life. Key hand if you care : 4 way at final table. I have T9s in BB. button makes minimum raise, i am the only caller. flop : 8 10 J rainbow. I bet the pot, and the BB goes all in.. he's got me covered. after a long think, i call and he shows AA. turn is a 9, river is a sweet sweet brick. never looked back from there.

I play pretty low stakes (and probably always will) so these kinds of cashes actually impress me. If you want to impress yourself, do what I do when I see cashes like this and think of it in terms of a big-screen plasma TV or a serviceable used car. I never actually buy these things, but it's cool to think that you could get them for your few hours of work.

Im not sure exactly where the money will go just yet. But a new high-end acoustic guitar is an even money favorite at this point. The rest will probably go to mastercard. not very exciting i know, but good gawddamn! it helps. Also, I forgot to mention the best part of this tournament win (well maybe not the best). It was a $27 w/ unlimited rebuys. Rebuys for me? Zero. makes it even more satisfying in my mind.. those are some killer odds.

Congrats, great job.It was a good weekend for FCPer's I guess. While we're bragging, I also won an MTT as well after many prior cashes but no 1st place finishes - Finally finished first in a $50 buyin MTT bounty tourney on Full Tilt with 820 players (including Howard Lederer, John Juanda, and Matusow) for a cash of $9600.
