Thomas "thunder" Keller

Recommended Posts

No offense, but your memeory is off. It was Keller the MYTH was about. He was indeed DESTROYING the game at his local casino. So much so, the MYTH was he had all the black $100 chips. As far as his poker skill, the man is a friggen machine. He doesn't play as many tourneys as others so what Ray said is true...he's flying slightly under the radar because of it.All you need to know about how much bank Keller is making is this...He obv. backed Fishyman and Fishyman lost somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-400k. The loss was barely even felt by Keller....Yep...he's DECENT all right!
Yeah, the myth came from the announcers of the WSOP. My question if this is true, how smart can a guy be that keeps that much money in the truck of his car :club:

I have yet to see Thomas roundhouse kick someone. But I will keep an eye out for it.Ray
RaySince u are tight w/ Keller, is it possible u can shed any light on his dealings w/ Fishyman or is that off limits?FWIW...I orignally thought Fishyman couldn't have been on his account when he spazzed out and lost his chat. But after reading his responses in 2 + 2, it's obv. it was him and he seems to have lost his mind! Also Ray...only 2 more post till 1000!!! YeeeHawww!

Funny you should say this, Thomas did a radio interview a couple of months ago where someone asked him about this, and he said almost the exact same thing. "How dumb would I have to be to keep tens of thousands of 100 chips in my trunk?"Regarding the Fischman deal, I can't say anything really, sorry guys. Thomas keeps that kind of stuff private, and thus obviously I should too.Ray

Kind of back to my earlier statement, my attempts to get him to focus on marketing are not enthusiastically met. Him and his brother have a very no-nonsense business-like attitude towards poker. Sure he could play Daniel for publicty and have a pretty tough game ahead of him, or he could play any number of high limit fish and just make money that way.Another issue is Thomas currently has a deal with Ultimate Bet. Being seen in a high profile match on another site would probably not go over well.Ironically enough, however, all of the "forum tournies" that the forum posters play in happen on FCP/Pokerroom because its so easy to schedule events there. I am under no such Ulitmate Bet contract. :PRay
Then I'll adjust the proposition. Why not make it a best 4 of 7 match. Home advantage gets to play at their own site!Keller has written before that he plays tournaments because they are challenging and very satisfying to win. This type of match-up would satisfy the challenging/satisfaction criteria he mentioned. It would be good business for both UB and FCP and create a huge buzz for both forums.

*shrug* If Daniel asks Thomas, that's up to them. I don't think you or I get to decide this. :club:.... And what a crappy 1,000th post this is. :PRay

its not too hard to read between the lines from his CP articles on the topic and seeing scott's reaction to all of the discussion what the deal with it is

i heard a rumor about him a while back...apparently, at one point, he had every single black chip(100$) of a casino(cant remember which 1) in the trunk of his car...dont know wher i read that but that would be sick if it were true.
You probably heard it on ESPN. They mentioned it in one of the player bio segments when he won his bracelet. I think it was some cardroom near Phoenix.

Keller is one of the local legends here is Arizona (right Ray?).And I think that story about all the chips in his trunk was regarding the Indian casinos here, althought I'm pretty sure they didn't mean it literally.Anyway, yeah. He is VERY good.

I heard this too...when interviewed and asked about this rumor in person...he said he did win a lot, but not every single $100 chip...

I don't know Thomas, nor have I ever played with him. Having said that, I find myself being thoroughly impressed with him. I've watched him play on UB, as well as at the WSOP. He has a great poker mind, and strikes me as being genuine and humble. The poker world is lucky to have him.

Did Keller get invited to the NBC Heads Up Challenge?Don't remember seeing his name there. He's probably more deserving than some of the others but I'm pretty sure there were other factors than just skill in the invitees.
