benhoug 0
I've been wondering why he doesn't get as much noteriety as Doyle and the other old timers.I'm just guessing, but I've got a couple of probable reasons:1.) Doyle is still playing in the biggest cash games on the planet, Slim doesn't seem to play much poker b/c he can't compete at a high level any longer (due to age, etc.)2.) Doyle is perceived as a likeable character, but Slim has the reputation of being more of a hustler type.3.) Doyle wrote the most famous poker book ever.4.) Slim touched a small girl. silkyjonson 1
I thought the same thing about why people did'nt talk about amarillo slim in the same breath as doyle, makes sense now because clearly this guy is a degenerate and gives poker players a bad name.but gets you to thinking about Doyles character because he was partners with him for a good while, I'm sure Doyle is no saint himself(not in the child molestation sense)

Not to say slim doesnt, but not to the extent doyle does. Then again, wtf do I know except from the stuff Ive read and watched on tv?

Considering Russ's reputation, I try not to quote him too much. :-)When Russ first came to RGP and started his delusional (or not) crusade, Doyle was one of his first targets. As a matter of fact, quite a few RGPers have asked Doyle why he won't post on RGP anymore when they have met him in person, and he says it's because of Russ.I don't like linking to any of Russ's posts, but if you go into google groups and search RGP for 'russ+doyle' or anything similar, you should be able to find the majority of their conflict. Just pay attention to the dates and makes sure it's not Russ re-posting like he always does. If I recall correctly, most of the original stuff is 2002 or so. They argued back and forth for a bit before Doyle finally stopped posting.

I had to watch it twice to make sure he actually did say that.Well, he obviously exaggerated a lot throughout the whole film, so I'm not sure, anything he said can be accepted as true.
