astros11ss 0
i'm 19, and me and two of my friends in my house run a game at our house.. been playing since the start of this school year, usually 1/2 nl, buy in $50-$400, and the quality of play is below average, as in playing a solid, tag style will almost never lose you money. stevielarson 0
Im 18 and our group has been playing for about a year and a half. Over that time the quality of play has increased alot. Im the hardcore one of the group but have loaned out a couple of books for the buddies to read. Everyone has been forced to step up their game to avoid being cleaned out. The play still isn't great but you have to have a decent game to adapt to the different styles people play. Besides the usual weekly home game we used to play at school on spare. The staff never made a big deal about it. The principal would walk by and not say anything as long as we never played for money (which we did, just paid it all out after). This year they started cracking down and the games went backroom (empty classroom, cafeteria, wherever we could find). Sometimes we ended up driving to a buddies house to play before returning for classes. Eventually the game got hunted down and 4 of the guys got suspended, fortunatly I missed that game. Now its just the home games and a local weekly tourny that we all attend. The final table at those usually has some good players but my buddies have taken down 3 of the last 4. Plus we usually make a killing of the super soft side games.Edit: Forgot to mention, our games started out as <$5 buy-ins but are now usually $20NL-$50NL.
lordli 0
I'm 19 and have been playing for roughly a year down here in Australia. It started off as a good way for my mates and I to catch up every week since leaving high school. Have a real passion for the game unlike most of my mates (bout eight of us) who just play it for a bit of fun once a week and feel it would be a great part time job since the game is quite new down here. I feel so lucky to have discovered the game, since it was rare to find a game spread at the casino. We play the freeze-out tournaments that we first saw on Late Night Poker, stops us from gambling away our tuition fees lol. Li.
NYC 0
Thanks man, how do you find the quality and level of play with them? The quality and level of play differs very much from player to player. One or two of the guys have some talent, but most of them aren't really good. But I have to say that, since we started playing a year ago, the level of play has gone up significantly. are they die hard forum guys like yourself? No, not really. I don't think anybody, except myself, is active on any poker-forums. But I'm not positive.

nickforgot 0
I would be under 19, homegames with friends have been going for a 2 and half years, and they are about 1-3 times a month if we are feeling raunchyThey are decent, not like hardcore players thoughI've been playing dealers choice with family and stuff since I was like 10, boy was I a fish. canateian 0
I'm 17 and my regular homegames been going for about 2 years. Our play in No limit hold em is pretty solid considering our ages. When we play other mixed games it gets pretty ugly and theres normally some morons that show up to or regular no limit games that learned from watching on TV that bring the quality of play down. Our core group of players is pretty strong however. We play either a 5 dollar with rebuys or between 15 and 30 dollar buy in.

overthetop 0
Just turned 20 (Do I still count?) been playing with my friends since 16 so a few years now. We started out with 3 dollar buy in, now its 10$ but most swings in the night are 30-50 range cuase one guy is a maniac and creates action. Im the most die hard in the group, but my bro and another freind have both been taking it seriously. They have been playing online for about a year 1/2 each, which is about a year less than me. I play the 600nl and 1000nl games on party, while they are stuck at the 200nl tables. Needless to say the skill level in our game is quite high and the maniac friend who used to run us all over and win alot has been getting destroyed for the last year. Eveyone else should have to step up their games to beat us internet guys but we cant take the stakes seriously and after logging 1200 hands in a day at 600nl, 10 cent 20 cent blinds makes me play like a total donk. BeaverStyle 1
I am 19, and i have played at windsor casino, in a regular home game, and now at school in Grand Rapids, I play every tuesday night, $5 buy in, w/ a horrible structure.I'd say the level of play varies immensely dependant on the overall intelligence of the player, as well as the level of poker intellect they have. I would consider myself an above-average player, with strengthes w/ making good calls/bets w/ solid reads on opponents, however, i need to work on actual reads of opponents. It's difficult, however, at this level to do so, because some players will play a K9os as hard as AKsuited... and even if you target those players, their starting hand requirements are very lax so they can have a great hand and play it the same way they play a crappy hand.I currently ordered HOH2 to read, and i am hoping that it will help w/ my short handed no limit game, as well as tourneys. Kuge 0
I'm 20 ....but I do play the occasional homegame every so often. Depending on the place the buy-ins are from $5-$20. It's been like this for over a year now (seeing as I play online 90% of the time). The people I play home games with are...well...not the best...who don't know what they are doing so it's easy money, however I usually buy-in for my gf and that is always -EV. I consider myself to be a strong player who will always try to outplay, I play based on feel and reads. My strong point is 5-3 handed play in sit&gos and tourneys, and my big weakness is HU play . And as for cash games...

erac22 0
I had a home game in high school where the play was lousy at best. Strangely enough, my home game at college is even worse. I find this strange since I go to Princeton, where most everyone is smart. Even stranger, the smartest people I know are god aweful poker players. I'm not just talking about tells, I'm talking about calling to the river with A high. It really blew my mind how such smart people could be so horrific at a card game. Unfortunately, this game only goes down like once a week. if there are any lurking princeton students who have a more regular game, let me know. I can't keep going to AC and getting home at 9 am, it's getting unhealthy.

TB17 0
I'm 19, We've had a game running since high school (about 2 years), which is freezeouts of only $10 to $20. It's mainly for fun rather than competition. And although I think 3-4 of them can really hit big if they play online, I'm the only one who does so. Most of them dont have the time or don't want to. nell789 0
I'm 18, and I've been playing at my home game for about 2 years. The play is unbelievably horrible. That being said, I don't really do as well as I should because of a couple reason:1) We normally play $5-$10 STT's (everyone's crazy cheap with their money)2) I play it just for the social aspect cause it's just with buddies of mine so I don't really care about the poker.
