I just finnished playing a freeroll tournament at Pacific Poker. They're just for fun and I find I get to learn alot about poker through this kind of tournament - without losing money. Considering my young age, I can't deposit any money in to my bankroll, but I enjoy playing these freerolls just for fun and hopefully win maybe a buck or two and try to build on from there....Here's the hand that did me in:800 people entered, 21 people left (top 20 get paid)I'm low-stack of the tourney, sitting with 12 000 in chips. BB was 2000.My turn to get the blind - I get 9h 4h (was dissapointed as I thought I was about to lose my 2000). To my surprise, everyone check.FLOP3c 9d 4dI see some light for my two pair, and being low stack of the tourney I can probably look to double up. The small blind decides to puch me all in, a 10 000$ bet.Looking down on my two pair I don't see that I have any other option - calleveryone else folds.Of course, he flips over his pocket threes to knock me out of the tournament in 21st place. Worst beat I've had yet.Thinking back, I could of folded and waited for someone else to lose to garantee my placement in the money, but I guess the pressure and the adrenaline forced me to call - my mistake.Anyways, just thought it would have been interesting to share... yes- this post is strictly to complain about just another stupid bad beat, but I figure it was worth sharing...Have a good day, Eric

It happens to everybody. I don't mean to be a jerk, but nobody cares to hear bad beat stories. Not only that, you weren't ahead at any point in the hand. You don't have enough chips to fold, and you just got a little unlucky to bubble. It's a freakin freeroll. Even if you survived you'd only make about $0.75. You'll live. Look under your couch cushions. I'm sure there's enough under there to compensate for your loss.

not really a bad beat when you are behind the whole hand

It's not even a bad beat. It's just a bad flop at the wrong time.Bad beats are when you get your money in as a prohibitive favorite. I myself don't even consider it a bad beat unless I "dominate" the other hand (AK vs A7 when all money is in preflop). Your case was that you had most of your chips invested, you hit 2 pair and the other guy got trips. It was 55/45 preflop and it's not like it was raised or anything.Bad luck. Not bad beat.

Its a bad beat in the sense of the situation he was forced into from the bb, not having the best hand. I think and hope everyone here is going all in at this stage of an MTT with that hand and this flop.Jesus, have some understanding kids.

Don't worry about it honestly. A lot of people have nothing better to do other than make fun of people. I think your English is very well written for most Americans let alone if it is not your first language. Sounds like your doing fine in the freerolls and as long as you are having fun forget the donkeys. Good luck in the future and keep posting, just weed throught the waste and take what you are looking for if it comes.

My worst beat...I am the chip leader in a $1,000,000 buy in tournament on PartySuckOut.com.I get Q5 and decide to call an all in, cause I am crazy like that. What the heck I say, he is probaly bluffing. Well he wasn't and I got knocked out in 31st! Right on the bubble to not get any money back! I was like.."nh". So it was all good. A great experience and all, helped me learn alot about this thing called poker. Funny thing is I thought I was playing Bridge! Better luck next time I thought. Thanks for letting me post this here."HI MOM" <<saying hi to my mom.Good luck all, hope to see you in the 2,000,000 buy in soon!

Your English is fine Frenchy :)You played the hand the way it should have been played. Don't fault yourself for that. The next time this situation comes up, call again and maybe you will catch one of your 4 remaining outs to win the hand. You are doing the right thing playing freerolls to better your game. Good Luck and when you are old enough to deposit I hope you succeed where others have failed.Read a couple of books as well.Don't worry about people who flame you, it's part of joining a poker forum. :club:
