Did I Play This Hand Wrong?

Recommended Posts

Hi Im new to the site and im new to poker as well, ive been playing for about 5 months. Last nite i was in the tournament in toronto. started with 4 full tables. im at the final 2 tables, 6 ppl at my table, 5 ppl at the other table. Im one seat away from the final table, and im short stacked. i have 4000 in front of me with the blinds at 500-1000Im under the gun and pick up Pocket Queens, and decide to go all in.Small bind calls, Big Blind reraises all in, Small blind calls Me- pocket queensSB- K J suitedBB- Q J off suitFlop A 10 J rainbowTurn K (BB and I now have a straight)River K SB wins with a full house. My question is should I have gone all in. Or should i have called, giving myself the option to fold on the Flop. I know i would have still had the best hand, but the 2 callers play generally really tight, so i would ahve put on of them on the ace.

Wrong forum, it will probably get moved. You made the right play and got unlucky. Nothing you could do. With your stack as short as it is, you don't want to be able to get away from the hand (mathematically, it is wrong to do so, that's what pot committed actually means).

You made the right play with your stack & position. They both called at least 3000 more which meant they had chips to spare. If you just call the flop screws you anyway, you cant bet it with the Ace on board & 2 others in the hand. Nothing really you couldve done different. Unfortunate to get 2 callers & a bad flop.

To all new players,Do not let results question how you played the hand if you got all your chips in with the best hand and someone sucks out on you. It happens, get over it.Also, to the OP, if you are not going to go all-in with Queens there, what the hell are you waiting for?
