Tournament Situation Question (pocket Queens)

Recommended Posts

Starting to get towards the bubble, the guy to my immediate right has just lost an all-in race with the guy to my left. Average stack was about 12k at that point, I believe. The following hand comes up:Full Tilt PokerNo Limit Holdem TournamentBlinds: t250/t500(Ante: t50)8 playersConverterStack sizes:UTG: t25728UTG+1: t3024MP1: t18428MP2: t7840CO: t14497Hero: t20380SB: t10520BB: t6280Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is Button with Q :D Q :club:4 folds, CO raises all-in t14447, Hero calls t14447, 2 folds. My question is, based on the current situation, do I have a fold here? I don't think he always has to have AK (a smaller pair wouldn't have surprised me), but should I have gotten involved?

Well, either he is tilting and is doing this with 7s8s, or he has drawn aces and has bet like this to make it look like he's tilting. If it went raise, reraise, or early position, I think it's an autofold. But an open raise, from late position, allin, from a guy who just lost a race, whom you have covered, I'm probably calling. If he has AA/KK, so be it...if he has AK, at least you're leading...I think it's too likely he has a lot of hands you dominate.

That was my thought as well. I don't think he would have done it with aces, though, I feel like that would have been too much of a risk.

I would have to call this 1. Guy could be on tilt2. You're only behind two hands and that would be a terrible way to play aces or kings for villian3. If you win, I'm guessing that you'd up near the chip leadersThat would be very bad luck if he just lost an all-in and then got aces or kings as it does setup a perfect time to push but most of the time you should be ahead.

Thanks all, I figured it was an easy call. Turned out he had AK and said he made that play to look like he was on tilt so he could get a call by something like AQ (not by me...). Got unlucky in the hand, but I managed to build my stack back up after the beat, so all was not lost.
