Heaven!?!

Recommended Posts

i consider myself a christian but i do like the idea of reincarnation. Maybe if you are in Heaven you are given the choice to go back if you want to. I also wonder if Heaven is an actual place or maybe just an idea. What restrictions are there in Heaven?Do people act the same way that they up there that they did on Earth i.e. snobby, maybe prejudice?I dunno it is just such a weird concept that i just have no idea where to start when I think about it

I don't think there's anyway for anyone to know what heaven's like. You can get an idea from a few people who have reported visions of it before being brought back to life. I don't know how trustworthy those reports are, but that (and the Bible) is really the only way to get an idea.

yeah i didn't really post expecting answers. I just like thinking about all of the possibilities that Heaven may posses. On another note Custom, I am a real fan of your new website. Congrats on it

Thanks Garn. There will be another significant update in a few days, when I get back to school. :)I would think that heaven will be whatever you want it to be. Like, if your dream place is a poker table with the world's (dead) best, that's where you'll be (just as an example). I've got nothing to base that on, though.

I don't like the idea of reincarnation at all.I'm miserable enough as is and the thought of doing it all over again is just so depressing.

meh, I've thought about reincarnation and it sounds like a possibility but there is really is no sense in trying to figure it out without harcore evidence, which we cant have.Read up on Edgar Cayce if you want...interesting character, he sheds a lot of insight on this topic.

Reincarnation just seems like a silly concept to me. If that were the case than that would mean we were all other people that have already been reincarnated . . . right?? Just seems weird. I don't feel like anybody else, just me. If I were reincarnated would I feel like me or them? If I felt like them then how would I know I were me and reincarnated? See where I am going?

you think a jewish carpenter who lived 2000 years ago is the son of god, and you think reincarnation is a silly concept?
To be fair if you believe that a jewish who lived 2000 years ago is the son of god, then reincarnation must be rejected (at least there is nothing in the bible describe reincarnation)

There's no reason to assume that you would remember your past lives.

It makes it fair for those who die at a very early age and don't experience any cognisant understanding of life itself. Not to mention, in Christian eyes a young death is brought into heaven, without making a choice! Where as others have to find out on our own, with eternity on the line, for ourselves.

The only think i can't figure out (if reincarnation happens)--is how we can have more and more people on this planet every year. Where are the "new" people coming from?

As the poster above alluded to, some religions which believe in reincarnation believe that beings are born as different sorts of animals in their different incarnations. The original meaning of karma is that it applies to your next life, not this one. The idea that if you rob an old lady you will have something equally despicable happen to you as a result of karma is a misconception....if you build up bad karma during your lifetime you will be reborn as, say, a worm. If you build up good karma you will be reborn as a human.

You know what's funny to me . . . I made no reference to my Christian faith in this response yet you two both took the opportunity to down Christians who believe in GOD/Jesus. I think it's pathetic that you guys have to criticize Christian' beliefs every chance you get. This topic was about reincarnation . . . not Jesus. Grow up.

nobody criticized your belief. i was just pointing out your (typical of christians) double standard - christianity is no different than reincarnation when you try to subject it to a logical analysis as you were doing with the latter. both can only be believed through faith, and neither is a more "silly concept" than the other.

I am Christian, and no I wasn't attacking christianity, I was saying that Christians shouldn't believe in reincarnation because there is nothing in the bible on it (maybe you can believe in it being possible in the sense of anything may be possible, but there is nothing in the bible that supports the idea of reincarnation)

I stand corrected . . . sorry Derek :club:

Why exactly do you feel the need to classify me? Do you feel that we "christians" are a seperate breed or class of people or something? That is no different than saying "typical of blacks" or "typical of Asians" or "typical of women". That is the kind of narrow mindedness that causes people to discriminate against one another. First of all . . . in the above statement you are talking about my beliefs. Do I know you? Have we ever met? How in the world do you know what my beliefs are? You just made assumptions about me because of my avatar . . . right? I hate to tell you my friend . . . but that makes you a bigot. That is no different than saying, "hey that guy is black so he must like fried chicken". Like it or not, christians are not a "group" or a "race". So don't put us there. In fact christians come in all sizes, shapes, nationalities and color. So the next time you want to talk about my beliefs and say that something is "typical of christians" you need to think long and hard about how you come across to people.

what the heck are you talking about? if you think it's racist to generalize christian behavior based on personal experience you're seriously deluded. christianity is not a race, it is a faith-based belief based on choice that tends to attract a lot of people who frequently display the same type of mentality, and are easily generalized.

don't be an idiot. you assume that's the first post of yours i've ever read?

again i have no idea what you're talking about. you believe something by choice through faith that is impossible to support through logic, so trying to refute other faith-based beliefs using logic is using a double standard. that's all i said. why so sensitive?

You said, and I quote, "typical of christians". That is being a bigot period. Like I said, that is no different than classifying someone based on the color of their skin. You can not say that christians "frequently display the same type of mentality" and tell me that your not being a bigot against christians. Christians are not "easily generalized" as you said. You are making judgemental, pre-conceived generalizations about me because I am a christian. THAT IS BIGOTRY! You can't put a label on Christians. FOOSE1 is a christian . . . so he must think this way . . . because it is "typical of christians" to think this way. That is just wrong my friend. The original topic of this thread asked for opinions. I gave mine. My opinion has nothing to do with my faith (which you brought into the picture). My faith should not even have come up because the fact is there are even christians who believe in reincarnation. For you to say that my double standard way of thinking was "typical of christians" is one of generalization and seperation based on my faith . . . which is bigotry by definition plain and simple. If you don't see what I am saying I am sorry. I won't argue with you anymore.
