Dan the Man:The Psychology of Poker is an outstanding poker book.I was running cold cards and bad luck for about two weeks and started losing a good amount of my bankroll playing. I stopped for a week, read The Psychology of Poker, came back and started winning money again. It's not a poker strategy book by any stretch of the imagination. It evaluates the motives of different types of poker players and why they do what they do.Another good book to read along with it is Mike Caro's Book of Poker Tells. They both fall into the same vein.-------------------I have a fairly weak collection of books, but all of them have been very helpful to me.-Super System I-Super System II-The Psychology of Poker-Harrington on Hold'em volume 1-Harrington on Hold'em volume 2-Hold'em Poker For Advanced Players-Seven Card Stud for Advanced Players-Mike Caro's Book of Poker TellsMy next purchases will most likely be Tournament Poker for Advanced Players, The Theory of Poker and Championship No-Limit & Pot-Limit Hold'em.

Theory of poker is excellent, highly recommend it. Tournament Poker for Advanced Players is on my list too, but I don't really play tournaments that often yet and am gonna really work through HoH (including the new one) before I have time to read it. As it is I'm still focusing on limit cash games right now.If you're talking about TJ's book Championship No-Limit and Pot-Limit Hold'Em, I'm not a huge no limit player so I can't give you the best analysis, but I don't remember being wowed by it and some opinions of others seems to be that it advocates a style that is so tight it might be hard to win money.

so far i got these books out of the list. hold them for advanced players, hold them tourment for advanced players by skalansky. Secrets the Pros Won't Tell You About Winning Hold'em Poker just outWorld Poker Tourâ„¢: In the Money by antinio. just out.chris Moneymaker : How an Amateur Poker Player Turned $40 into $2.5 Million at the World Series of Pokeralso brought the little green book. and tj How To Win The Championship: Hold'em Strategies for The Final Table.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------i brought the secrets the pros, the little greenbook, antonio in the money, and chris money maker book first. 1. for moneymaker book, it was quick fast look at the world series of poker which i found funny seeing how he played against some stars like johnny chan give him a good hammer for a while. I didnt' see much strategy in it, but found it interesting that lots of his important turning pointts came through luck of the cards. i havne't reread it since though. 2. the next book i looked at was in the in the money,, another quick night read,, but i didn't find it fascinating as erik making the final table. i havne't reread it nor opened up the dvd for chip tricks. what i found the most interesting in it was how he got started, and how phil laak was there at the beginning as well. the head up tip about playing for a 1000 times against someone was interesting.. i offered to play against a friend lots of time and he said "why so you can beat me " and i said no that wasnt' the point. 3. The little green book was quite good,, i remember skiming through it at the book store a few times and saying this is garbage.. but I was in a differnt mind set. now i greatly appreciate this book and look forward to his little blue book coming this fall. after reading it through a few times.. I like the idea of raising due to position , and I am still trying to understand the ideal of the the BOW "biggest online winner" and that power house strategy. i am sure i seen people on full tilt use that against me. 4. then i read the secrets the pros dont' tell you,, it really helped me to go back to the basics more and look at things differntly. in fact after reading this book i was able to go back and read the little green book a bit more. both these books had good starting hand discussions. ------------------------------------------------last week i got the hold them for advanced players, Tournament Poker for Advanced Players and tj How To Win The Championship: Hold'em Strategies for The Final Table.in the mailI found it fascinating to compare strategies from small stakes hold them as i read that book several time and the strategies albiet a bit more advanced in hold them for advanced players. I looked through the tourment poker for advanced players and zeroed on the system.. and the reworked part of the system.. for i hear that is what kill pil system is like. I read the idea of it,, and how powerful it is to even out skill between beginner and professional. but right now i am loving tj book for me, i wouldnt' understand it if i didnt' read hoh 1 and two and his championship hold them. of course it has lots of criticism from others but myself i am liking. after i reread these books , I will come back and perhaps reorganize the list.and update the list with some more books listed on amazon for the fall.I was so looking forward to mike caro hold them play by play(it appeared scheduled to be released on the 30 of may on amazon,, low and behold ,, it came and went but no book appeared )but in sending a request for information to cardoza i got feedback.. it said they havne't recieved a manuscript from mike yet, so I don't know when the book will come out. but tj book new book was delayed almost a whole year so who knows.
