Eric Smith 0
I'm a little confused on how this exactly works and why it is in place. If they are playing 3k/6k blinds, 75k is only like twelve bets. With a raise pre-flop and a bet on the flop and you'd be done betting? someone explain this to me, thanks

They use smaller blinds than the normal 3,000/6,000 for those games, I'm pretty sure.

Not sure if they're lower in the $3000/$6000 limits.Does anyone know how the antes/bring in works for the limit stud games??

k0smo 0
It's $100k cap, think about playing a hand against someone with a million in chips and getting it all in, too crazy, 100k keeps the action big
lordofelt 0
The cap is in place because they mainly play fixed limit games. The blinds are lower in NL and PL games because for a NL game of the same magnitude they should be. Think about how 4/8 limit is more like 1/2 NL. Having the cap is basically the same thing as having a max buy-in for each nl game of $100k except it resets each hand. If the cap wasn't there then the NL games pots would become much bigger relative to the fixed games and this would make it easier to profit in the big game by only dominating the big bet games. It would be possible to win a million dollars in either of those games but not possible in the fixed limit games. Also the cap has another unique feature I remember DN mentioning in a blog awhile back. He said that since a player could "only" lose 100k in a pot they would be much more likely to gamble and call bets then if there wasn't a cap. This is most likely why especially in PLO you often hear DN say that someone facing a bet of 70k will raise to 100k they know once they call the 70k they're pot committed for that last 30k so they'll put it all in at once and run the cards out. rog 0
I was under the impression that the makeup of the mixed game depended on who was in it, and was negotiated each time at the start. Which would make it pretty stupid for any of us to be claiming to know what the cap "is". I've seen it mentioned as being 100k before, and I've seen it mentioned as 75k recently. khabbi 0
From what I've understood from the blogs, the 3K/6K game (which Daniel played for the first time just the other day) was played with a cap of 75K; the 4k/8k game is usually played with a cap of 100K.I think everyone is forgetting that he was playing a different limit than usual, thus the non-standard (to us readers anyway) 75K cap.
