Stacked Delayed Again!

Recommended Posts

I know there are 2 or 3 of you out there that give a damn about this game so I thought I would let you know the latest date. Now it is scheduled to ship 5/2 which would put it in stores around the 3rd or 4th of May depending on where you shop.Pretty amazing that these guys could screw this up so badly but there you go. The MTV special that Daniel shot like a million years ago is still in the can ready to air as soon as these guys get their crap together and ship this game.Hell if they delay it any longer they may be able to shoot a new show with Daniel playing Poker from his retirement home!!

"... and if they dare to rush a buggy game out to market before it's ready I'm going to be pissed."C'mon man, with all the crap games (see the EA line-up of games) that have been rushed to market because someone HAD to hit a delivery date, I'd think that gamers could cut a little slack to those companies that would rather push a date than deliver a peice of garbage.

Someone remind me why anyone would buy a poker video game?
I think it's great for my friends who love poker and want to get better but would never buy a book or spend any significant time studying. They've all played online but we all know the difficulties of just jumping into games without any education. This game provides the casual guy an opportunity to learn while still having fun.

So which of DN's "projects/endorsements" or whatever has turned out worse...this "Stacked" video game or his representation of the "Wynn" Casino with those "heads-up Challenge matches?" Both seem to have been pretty big busts thus far....too bad he doesn't have Phil Hellmuth's marketing team..I heard he's making hundreds of millions of dollars outside poker!!!

I was making a joke..yes, but in reality...I bet Phil does make more than most other pros from off the table endorsement/marketing type stuff....he appeals to the "beginner" audience a whole lot because they don't realize what a joke he is becoming...

I'll bite. Stacked hasn't "turned out" at all yet, so I'm not sure how we could judge it as a success or a failure. The challenge matches seemed pretty good. As far as turning out badly goes. they were pretty low-risk for DN. He'd be playing poker anyway, and they did generate some internet buzz. Not a resounding success, but far from a failure. The only clear-cut failure I see in DN's business ventures so far was Poker Mountain. That turkey didn't fly. Glad to see FCP doing better, but I have serious concerns if they dont solve the MTT disconnect issue.

Well the "Stacked" video game was mega-hyped all around and every time it gets delayed, fans become less and less interested and it is actually starting to become a joke....that's a failure so far.As for his heads-up matches...I am not saying those in themselves were "failures," but the matches in the context of his association and promotion of the Wynn Casino were a failure...as they abruply ended their deal and his heads-up challenge matches have just disappeared and have been a bit of a failure.

Hey KowboyKoop,The Wynn representation didn't end abrubtly. The contract ran it's course and both parties agreed that renewal was not the direction to go. What was a miss with that? As far as participation goes, I never heard anyone say they were turned down by DN so everyone that wanted their shot got one.I'll agree with the previous poster who said that PokerMountain was the real big flop besides the delay of Stacked. I was never excited about a video game anyway....seems kind of silly if you ask me.

All I know is that DN was supposed to be having a lot of heads-up matches with big-name pros at the Wynn..and then all of a sudden the heads-up matches stopped and he wasn't with the Wynn anymore. I don't know any of the details..but it appears to me and others that they ended a long time before they were planning on ending them......seems like a bit of a failure to me. Also, weren't a lot of pros on record as saying they were kinda silly and that the only reason DN is doing them is b/c he thinks he has "something to prove," and that the whole idea was kinda useless??? Bottom line...the whole thing didn't turn out as planned and didn't really have the impact on the poker world that they said it would at the beginning...thus, seems like a bit of a failure to me.

Missing Christmass probably hurt Stacked a bit. Releasing something like this into the holiday consumer frenzy is always a big win. It may feel like it's becoming a bit of a joke here, but that's because we're following it closely. Stacked came up at a home game I play at last week, and most of the people there (who play poker several times a week) were vaguely aware that there was something in the works, but didn't know any details. Honestly, a very small proportion of their potential market are following the successive delays. It'll hit the market at some point, and John "Moneymaker" Public will think it's cool and buy it.
