Not only for the EV but the different and exiting levels of thinking involved.Great post or should I say text messages!Li.It's not like anyone drags the players into the game against their will...there's a lot of pros who could play in these mixed games but don't because it's more profitable for them to specialize. It seems like the purpose of the Big Game is to give its regular players something to do and a place to spend time together, rather than a way to make big money. The players who are in poker for the $$$ tread in the shallow waters with the fishies (300/600 - 1000/2000). You don't walk into a game with 8 of the best players in the world expecting to come out way ahead.

You don't walk into a game with 8 of the best players in the world expecting to come out way ahead. There are definitely players who lose in the big game. Since not everyone is good at all of the games in the rotation, people often try to maximize their wins in their strong games while minimizing the losses in weaker ones. Some of the games can get even the best off their game and steaming. That is how a lot of players come up with their wins. Plus, not everyone in the game is necessarily the best. There are definitely players that stop by after big tournament wins that don't necessarily do that well.

You don't walk into a game with 8 of the best players in the world expecting to come out way ahead. The top pros all play mixed games. They may not play in this game specifically, but the pros that have consistently made the most and made a career out of poker, do play a wide range of games, even if they're profitable in some games more than others. And as far as the big game goes, they're there to make money, period. The key for them is sensing when someone is not playing their best and pouncing on it, while themselves making sure they only play while in top form. Also, a lot of rotating donators do come in, that have a lot of money and want to play with the best.
