Tiltinagain 973
I, for one, would like to see these "stats" and "facts" you're talking about Napa! Just google: "studies that showed that kids should never feel the sting of defeat in soccer or little league or the swat of a hand and should be told their whole lives that they are perfect and wonderful and fart roses and shit diamonds" Pretty sure it will be the first result.
Napa Lite 3,279
I had to check because you guys keep using it as debating technique. So does parenting play no part in how a kid turns out? Only 10%? You make a good point. I should cite some of these studies I keep referencing if I expect you to do the same. http://www.indranet.org/frontal-lobes-development-and-technology-use/ Here's one on the brain Here's one one income and drug usage http://aspe.hhs.gov/hsp/09/vulnerableyouth/3/index.shtml Here's one on college graduation rates by income http://www.cic.edu/Research-and-Data/Making-the-Case/Pages/Graduation-Rates-by-Family-Income.aspx Happiness by income http://www.wsj.com/articles/BL-WHB-3576 Income by education http://www.bls.gov/emp/ep_chart_001.htm Extrapolate as you wish. Ron_Mexico 4,219
Damn, I want to shit diamonds. Sklansky will be working through the weekend on our treatment for our new tv show. Not sure on the name. We're working with Step-Loser A down on his luck stepdad who's wife has passed away and left all her money to her Asian son. Ironically, mom wasn't Asian either. He lives an opulent life of drugs, women (men) and extravagant hobbies while his steploser dad tags along being his driver and do boy for table scraps

Napa Lite 3,279
And to that end, while Barkley sounds like an idiot, he's also right. Talent trumps most. Anyone can see Howard and Harden are talented. Don't need analytics for that. They supplement the team, as they would supplement our discussion It's not the end all be all. The social sciences can be melded to fit a point. And I love that stuff. Freakonomics, Gladwell books, etc Barkely would be right if that's how he framed his argument but he's saying that analytics can't tell you anything and that these nerds don't know anything because they never played when all stats guys will tell you that they are just another tool in the belt to evaluating talent. He's making a strawmen.

He lives an opulent life of drugs, women (men) and extravagant hobbies while his steploser dad tags along being his driver and do boy for table scraps I've never had a male lackey before, so I'm trying to imagine if I'd jew out and throw table scraps, or if we'd just ball out. I think both have upsides, but if we are doing this in SoFl, the coke is probably going to make me want to live a bit larger, across the board.
Napa Lite 3,279
I'd say we're in agreement there. I don't need to know his eFG% to know Durant is really good at making baskets.
Ron_Mexico 4,219
But I can see you and 4 models doing blow off a huge mirrored table In a sunken living room, leave for the bedroom to start the sexing, and I would be on the table with a razor trying to skim up the residue.
Essay21 2,387
Advanced stats told the Rockets that james harden was a superstar. There was a debate at the time as to his ability to be a top dog, a number one option. But his advanced stats said all he needed was more minutes and they were right. Any team could have tried to get him, but the rockets were sure so the came hard. Morey > barkley
Ron_Mexico 4,219
People around the league were pretty happy with Harden at that point. I think nobody wanted to max him out before seeing him as a lead dog; which is where the leap of faith came in. Then they gave hkm the money, and he stopped playing defense for a couple of years. I think his defensive metrics are up this year
Napa Lite 3,279
As an independently wealthy drug addict who doesn't want kids and doesn't like old people or young people, I don't care about any of this. I want to switch gears: Let's talk about women: why do girls wake up so late in the day? I laugh at people complaining that their kids are losers, but it's slowly starting to tilt me that I wake up and have to do drugs by myself until the afternoon. I'm not asking for anyone to get a job or accomplish anything, I just want people to roll over long enough to do a wake n bake when the alarm goes off. This entire generation of women have trash for values. Everything trash IMO
Tiltinagain 973
Do you think thats what I believe because that couldn't be further from the truth or are you just making a joke? I don't think you think that. Mostly I'm joking but they say there is some truth in every joke... Studies do not impress me. Most of the time they biased and have agendas. The ones that aren't I didn't need a study to convince me. Like growing up in the ghetto with POS welfare collecting, drug addiction having parent(s) will make it very hard as a child to get out and be "successful". anybody ever wonder how big fraus cans are? Ill bet there in the high b, low c range. Of course. I feel like she's said before? Maybe it was just her measurements? Or maybe I was just imagining that at a buck twenty five with a great ass that the boobies have to be a solid C cup. Yeah, maybe it was that.
Ron_Mexico 4,219
Nah, I think Frau is rocking a 36B. If she wears her bras too tight, 34B. Full B 5'5" at 125, that seems standard size, unless she's all back or all lower half

Napa Lite 3,279
What's your baseline for a successful life then? I don't think money is everything by any means but I do think a large part of being considered a success is you should be able to provide for yourself and yours without assistance and making money is necessary to do that. Making a lot of money makes that easier, etc, etc.

Any team could have tried to get him, but the rockets were sure so the came hard. Morey > barkley I think what the Rockets knew that most GMs didn't, thanks to analytics, is mostly related to rebounding and positional advantages that come as a result of certain things Harden is freakish at doing. I doubt he had some special insight beyond knowing that Harden's ceiling is more efficient and productive than a comparable talent with other skills, which also explains why they paid for Lin. It's a nice edge, and clearly the people who most accurately model and understand basketball (as is evident though gambling) rely heavily on tools that people who use expressions like "the eye test" don't understand, but I think people on every side of the "debate" mischaracterize what analytics actually do. Mostly, I think the Rockets are really discipline with contract decisions, have a long view, and are good at making deals, but that's not even like some opinion the analytics world disagrees with.
Ron_Mexico 4,219
What's your baseline for a successful life then? yourself and yours . Without the yours part, then you just have money and nobody to share it with. I'd rather be the way I am financially and have a partner to share things with than make $150k a year and be alone all the time, only having the company of hookers twice a week. Wait, would I? Damn Nah, I'll take friends and a wife
