and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

My dad just called saying I was invited to my brothers finances kids birthday tomorrow night. Naahh, you already took a MM weekend from me, you aint taking my poker night.

Damn straight. You were only invited for your gift giving prowess - strat

Well, for the next five weeks I have rec-basketball on Wednesday nights so I was going to count that as my cross training for now. Otherwise I'll just catch whatever class my gym is offering that specific day. Usually cycling or some sort of HIIT with either body weights or kettle bells. If I switch gyms, maybe some swimming. I might mix in some compound lifting days at lower weights, too, but I'm a little worried about the DOMS messing up my running.

I have some yoga vids for the stretching/rest days in addition to daily foam rolling. I'm going to look for a running themed yoga video though.

Yeah, for this first one I'm not overly concerned with time. Maybe if I decide to run a second and/or triathalon then I'll worry about time.

I could never make myself go to public classes like that at a gym, but to each their own.

I love yoga. I'm kind of shitty at it still, but I think you can even use it to replace separate strength training with the right routine. My partner and I used the Yoga Studio app when we were starting, and there are a lot of different routines...I assume some specifically for running?

I think swimming is a great idea. I currently am between pools, but it's great.

Kettlebells are my jam, I even travel with one.

Basketball is probably as bad as tennis for twisting an ankle or something, but running is probably even worse for injuries in general...just thought I'd mention, having to take a week off and another week easy or whatever is always shitty, particularly on a time table. But it looks like you have a lot of cushion anyway, so w/e works.

I never thought I'd be a class guy either but I did it for a few months and it wasn't bad. People may have been judging me but I was so concerned with just getting through it i didn't notice. And then when I really got into it I realized that I was doing the workouts at a higher level than those people now, so, f it. Plus, I'm really really lazy and have a hard time pushing myself to do a full workout like that on my own so the group thing helps me there.

Yeah, I realize the basketball isn't ideal but I signed up before I started this endeavor and I dont play a ton of minutes.

I am starting to get my legs back after the blood donation. My 2.5 miles on Tuesday was terrible but my first mile was my fastest yet and the second was up there. Last night was just a 2.0 mile run that was fairly easy, too. I'm a little worried about my 3.5 mile run on Sunday though.

Random running thought:

So I honestly think barefoot running is completely unsupported by science and is kind of stupid. I've never really had many injuries or recurring issues in the first place, so I have no personal anecdotes about its benefits either. I just find it really fun. I've tried the finger shoes, and have always loved racing flats, but I've become obsessed with Xero Shoes. They were selling the kits to make them yourself for $6 around Black Friday, and I stocked up. I've been using them for trail running in the freezing cold, and have become my favorite shoe. It just feels cool.

Tues (outside) 9:33, 9:47

Thurs (treadmill) 1 miles at 6.2 at .5 incline, second was at 6.2 first 1/2 and then last 1/2 was at 1 incline and I increased speed to running the last .2 at 8.0. My conversion chart tells me that's around 9:40ish/mile

Some calculator I found earlier told my time will be around 2:23 at my current pace.

That's not bad at all. Lots of people who aren't even overweight take a long time to crack 10min/mi.

Also, I would blow my brains out running on a treadmill. I like to be moving through an environment. Plus, I like doing out-and-backs, so I can't stop in the middle.

If I ever get hurt, I might get one of those underwater ones just to ball out, but I doubt I'd even use that.

Ha, yeah, I hate it. That's partially why I went faster the last 1/2. Just to get out of there faster.

I prefer out and backs, too, because of the lazy thing. I'm going to have to get back home somehow so I might as well run to get it over with.

That's a lot of money. Nice.

I wish my old job would hurry up and send me my W-2 so I could do my taxes. My quick estimate has me actualy getting a refund this year when I had been expecting to pay.

Too often I'll work like an hour or so extra Monday and then use that hour to justify about 3 hours worth of being late, long lunches, or early leaves the rest of the week.

That's real good, yet impossible to keep for 13 fcking long tedious hideous miles

The calculator takes fade into account but it is a small sample size it's going off of and also I haven't really started training training.

Go ahead and put your money where your mouth is tubby.

Edit: I've never had a massage. Maybe I'll schedule one for the day after the race and use Ronnie's money to pay for it.

I was being nice, complimenting you. My commentary was about the length of the race and how I personally feel about it

BUT NOW ITS ON, FARMBOY.

your hypochondriac ass is gonna quit after 8 miles because everything is gonna hurt. I'm gonna w/d from my 401k and load up on this bet. You're gonna owe me for years. You're gonna offer your sister to get out from under this debt. I'm gonna own a farm in Iowa before this is over. I'm gonna burn it to the ground, just because. I'm gonna use it for a driving range and make you shag my balls, and I can spray them around.

Actually, I'm sure you're gonna do great. I just think 2:15 is lofty. 10 minute miles for that long is better than I can imagine. Maybe you're a running savont. Either way, I'm pulling for your success. If you succeed, maybe you'll realize you can do stuff and that confidence will carry over with women

Emptying your 401k, huh? So I'll be able to get a pedi to go along with my massage?

Pregaming my company Xmas party. Ordered a "lagunitas IPA" and the bartender (white) responded "oh, you want a laguŃItás?" With all the accents all condenscendingly.

OK, Pal. Glad you can put that language arts degree to use.

La goo knee tas. I miss beer. I take January off from drinking every year. Already down 10 lbs with minimal exercise. I may have a problem

11 months out of the year.

My longest race was a 25k in just over 2:10. Had plantar fasciitis after that and couldn't run for months. Can't wait to do it again...

to elaborate, I got to looking at a map and zillow. it just makes so much more sense to go with a house in my target area. I guess if shit goes wrong, I will just have to figure out how to be mr. handyman guy. it's one thing to say, "well, I'm not gonna move like, ever, so I want to go with what's easiest" but quite another to know what the hell will happen with my company in the next 5-10 years. so I guess it makes sense to buy something with resale considerations in mind.

I had lunch with one of the partners, and he basically prepped me for coming to management when other companies start trying to hire me away. he's a salesman for a living, so of course he's going to say shit like that, but I am starting to believe that they're going to pay me more money sooner than later. I am tempted to wait until the next raise cycle to see if they're serious, and risk paying .5% more on my mortgage.

I would say do this. Hell, with your penchant for tight-assery you could save up in the interim and just pay down the points.
