I Called In Sick Today

Recommended Posts

Now I wanna cook a bunch of food. Maybe I'll make a weekend menu. Hmmmm

Been minimal on the food buying, eating and making front lately.

Babybacks might be nice. Braise a tri-tip and finish off on the grill. Maybe a prime rib.

Wife doesn't like potato salad, pasta salad or cole slaw. Just baked beans, which is annoying when you're cooking for 2.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

Good plan. However, respectfully of course, I have never heard of braising a tri tip before grilling. Did you mean marinate maybe? Tri tip is so easy and quick to cook, and stays moist and tender as long as you don't overcook, that I just can't figure out why you would need to braise it first. It does enjoy a good marinade or dry rub though, but who doesn't?

yeah it has been too long. been...couple years since i've played poker and that last time i felt like a virgin again.

I'm kinda kicking myself for not jumpin on the offer from monte carlo for superbowl weekend. they were going to give me thurs, fri, and sunday nights free and sat night was going to be $105. probably would've had to stay monday too because I hate traveling totally hungover.

A few different things. Last time I went to Vegas I felt a little burnt out on the place so I decided to wait a little longer until next visit. That and having a long distance affair. Hotel rooms and sex toys can get expensive in a hurry.

Clutch is playing Vegas in early May so might go then. Or, if they put together a deal for March Madness like they did superbowl I'll probably take it. The wild card trip would be going to the Heavy fest in Montreal in August.

I had looked up flights for that weekend because I'm finally able to take that thurs/fri off of work and then my brother goes and gets fvckin engaged and messes up my plan of watching basketball for four days straight. Selfish prick.

I'm in Northern CA, in my home town, tonight so I called a buddy of mine and took he and his wife out to dinner. When we left the restaurant we noticed a Mazerratti four door sitting just outside. It was beautiful and we were standing there admiring it when we noticed the license plate "Jim 00", it was Jim Ottos car.

For those that don't know, he is in the NFL hall of fame after a 15 year career as a center on the Raiders. For some reason he settled in my home town after he retired and we went to high school with his son. He used to own several Burger King restaurants in the Sacramento area and we would see him in one of the two restaurants in town for time to time. Word was that he was a miserable ass of a boss. Anyway, we hung out talking about the car, and him for a bit when He and his wife come walking out of a Hallmark store. He's a mess, had a leg amputated a few years ago and is said to have had almost 100 surgeries for various joint and back/neck issues. We chatted briefly and shook his hand before letting him go.

My brush with fame for the day.

I miss loogie's celebrity stories...

Just had thought...maybe I'll wait and see if FNM is going to play Vegas or L.A. this year and make that my trip. I'd really like to see them again and they are hitting festivals which I hope is a pre-cursor to a more full blown tour.

the episode of its always sunny where they see the psychiatrist about who should do the dishes is extremely good. dennis is at his peak in that episode.

it's interesting, our thing, isn't it? to be in someone's mind. to have complete control. it's like the thrill of being near the executioner's switch, knowing that at any moment you could throw it. but knowing you never will. but you could. never isn't the right word because i could. and i might….i probably will.

and this. a well placed pen can have quite an effect on a man like him. this must have given him quite the thrill. i'll bet he tried to suck on it, didn't he?

hey strat, you mentioned before getting a bottle of "forester" I think. you mean old forester? that's been my bourbon of choice lately. damn good for the price.

forrester, yeah. my officemate got me a bottle for my birthday and I was so pissed about it. I was happy to get the bottle but I hate being in gift debt.

he's broke as shit and it's purely because he does stuff like that. gift habits leave everyone broke.

I got a 1.75 of weller special reserve for $30 from a liquor barn here. I had no intention of buying bourbon on the trip but wtf is that, especially here where any decent bourbon is not hanging around for long. they had an entire shelf devoted to it, and it was gone within a week.

wheated bourbons are my fave.
