Those were just for effect. I'm being serious this time.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

But the success is determined by outside factors, which is against the spirit of what I was going for. I'm happy to adjust something if you guys don't think it works. This is important people. Really important.

Maybe stock picking works, but in my original thoughts, it didn't. Either way, it gave us something to talk about.

It wasn't your original thoughts that were the problem, it was your physical ability to type them.

If you could forward in time 500 years, would you? You can't come back either. Just boom, 2513. I think I would.

No.

I'm really surprised this caused such a commotion. I thought brv's stipulation made perfect sense, but now that I read his clarifications, I'm less sure.

I assumed he meant you had to spend the year actually spending the time doing something, creating something, making something real/physical of some value, and couldn't just "create" the money. So stock picking is out, best lottery number picker is out, best at finding money lying on the street is out, etc. Writing books, painting, sexing the ladies, playing basketball (puke).. all considered in.

Makes perfect sense to me.

It's a victimless crime..

Not really. When, as a business, you take it to the bank and the bank knows its fake, they debit your acct/deposit. Person you gave it to=victim

Saw Don't Jon today. Solid movie

Too high a chance that earth is gone or uninhabitable.

IE - why don't you quit your job, write a program (either in excel or an actual software program) that automates the work at your firm? License it back to them for $5k / month (suggestion) plus some consulting / implementation fees. However much you can save them in headcount per month, charge them 1/2 or 1/3 of that amount so they're guaranteed a 2:1 or 3:1 ROI. Whoever owns your P&L (your AVP? his boss?) should be interested in the savings to your group.

I feel like they would have just given me the promotion, or offered to bump up my salary to keep me in this group, if they really wanted me to stay.

I'm not saying you're wrong, it's just, the reward I got for cutting a $30k/year position was a $50 gift card.

you're right, no one ever got ahead in life by being complacent and comfortable. I know I gotta leave eventually, but this plan of yours is so ballsy and risky.
