I Called In Sick Today

If GenericMagicalBeing (GMB) came up to you and said he would be your agent for the next ten years and will get you any movie roles you want (and he'll make you good but not great at it), what kind of movies are you doing? Are you going to do a mix of serious, comedy, action, indie? Are you going to only do big money blockbusters? Are you only going to do Oscar worthy movies? Movies with sex scenes with hot actresses? What's your plan? What if he said he would offer the same deal, but he'll also take you back ten years first? Which movies would you be starring in?
I think I'm going to follow around David Fincher and be in every movie he makes. If I get transported back 10 years, I'd follow around David Fincher and be in every movie he makes.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

I figured you would say something like "every movie that Thom Yorke has done the soundtrack for," but now I see that he did movies like Twilight, so I can see why you went this route instead.

I think Fincher achieves a great balance of notoriety, budget (so you get paid), and of course quality. The major downside is that he often tortures actors with 50 takes on some scenes

This is just ridiculous. I have had numerous BMW's one went over 300K miles before i got rid of it, the other was around 200K. No major repairs on either, but the little plastic stuff started to break which got expensive. Also, they were both 3 series and got over 30mpg.
Eh?

I do the Matt Damon thing. A little Stuck on You, some (not ridiculous) action films, the occasional cameo in random places, some thinkers. Enough to be really rich but still have respect for myself.

Eh?
Well, I should clarify, my parents have had a couple too. They went over 200K miles as well, so I guess I have personally have not owned that many. Pardon my grammar. I blame Wang. I tend to care less about my communication without the fear of him pointing out my errors.

Well, here's the thing Shake, if you give me the info, like 2010 Accord LX with (whatever options, they don't have many) then I can find invoice and if there are any incentives, some are advertised some aren't. Hondas typically don't have alot of markup compared to domestics though. But let me give a suggestion so you have something to compare to and I'll use a car I have on the lot right now, it's an 08 Accord EX-L 4cyc, which is loaded. It has 43K and I could sell it for say, $17K. Okay, new car at 28K plus $1900 in tax and fees. With 5K down financing 24,900 your payment with 0.9 is $425 Now the used one at 17K plus tax (guessing 6%) financing $13,200 with 5K down, (60 months @ 3.99) is $245So the difference in payments over 5 years is about $11,000. The tax savings on the used which is less makes up for the small amount of interest. Now you might have a little more maintenance with the used but not that much more.So the question becomes is it worth the extra $180/onth to have the new car. Keep in mind it will only be new till you drive it off the lot. Again, you might not care and plan on keeping the car for 20 years and resale value wouldn't really be an issue, but if in 5 years you decide to trade it in, there won't be $11,000 more trade in value on the new one.So is the car worth the money or would you rather use it for other things, like Rebel Flags for your windows, or non-pleated Dockers, or swooning the nearest babe in the trailer park. It isn't money that you are putting in an investment so it's what pleasure vs the money spent you will derive from it.
RR, I just bought a 2006 Grand Caravan 3.3L. 83,000 miles. Stow - n - Go on all seats. Captains seats in the first row, bench in the back. What would you guys sell that for?SJ: If I'm only going to be good, not great, does that imply no shot at an oscar, even if you are in the Oscar type movies? An oscar would be the most important thing to me, so if I had no chance to win one, then I would just do blockbusters for 10 years and try to make as much bank as possible.

Going forward I would want to do one summer blockbuster (action or comedy) and one winter Oscar movie each year. Then I would just sprinkle in whatever else looks interesting.Going back 10 years, I would play the following roles:2001 - Aragorn (LOTR (I guess this covers 2002 and 2003 as well), Leonard (Memento), Antonio Banderas's character who played opposite naked Angelina Jolie (Original Sin)2002 - Anakin (Star Wars), Amsterdam (Gangs of New York)2003 - Hmm. I guess I'm just doing LOTR this year. 2004 - Right about now I'm wishing I said 5 years instead of 10. Paul Rudd's character (Anchorman), Mike Eruzione (Miracle), Joel (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Shaun (Shaun of the Dead), Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me)2005 - Anakin (Star Wars), Batman (Batman), Johnny Cash (Walk the Line)And I've hit the wall; I can't do anymore years now.

it would be interesting to see how well the selected movies did with our mediocre acting talents in them.i would do major releases until i made enough money, which is probably a much lower number than most would shoot for, then switch to fun indie stuff. definitely be the doctor in human centipede 3.i would also crank out some short stories and 'get' those roles. gmb would have to take care of it magically getting approved to be shot by someone, so i'd have instant approval for any/all of the dreck i chose to write.

Shake,Or lease a 2011 Accord Couple LS-X, no money down, $279/mo (depends on your dealer, money down, and your credit) for 3 years and never worry about selling it later or maintenance. That is what I did, well I have a 2010 but oil changes are free, full warranty through the whole lease so no money spent on other crap and as usual i will get bored of it in about 8 months so I can go get something else at the end of the lease.I know people like to argue about buy vs lease, but for me, lease is the only way to go unless I find a car that I can see myself driving for 8 years or more. I drive too much to not enjoy myself and be comfortable and I get bored fast with the cars I buy. I have no issue with having a car payment each month as long as the car payment is good enough. $279 is fine with me. Much better than the $435 Ford wanted for a Focus. I like the accord, it's nice, comfy, good ride, decent on mileage. But I do want more. They had no manuals in the area in black so I had to get an automatic and that started annoying me about 3 days in. Just my .02's.

I'd do 3 or 4 blockbusters for whoever was offering the most money. After that, I'd do one Oscar-worthy indie movie that made everyone think I was an up and coming star in the business. I'd take a year off, doing alllll sorts of nasty drugs, go to rehab, then BAM; Straight to porn. I'd spend the rest of my time doing the nastiest, dirtiest things possible to women and live the rest of my life (post GMB) making Ron Jeremy-style cameos, where I make crass jokes in B-level TV and movies for proooobably not much money.

Along the same lines, if you could've gone back and had one movie role only and your performance in it would be received and remembered just as the original, which would it be?Do you go for something like DeNiro in Raging Bull, Pacino in The Godfather, Bogart in Casablanca or maybe something like Indiana Jones or James Bond? Bill Murray in Caddyshack? You don't get any more movie deals after this and you're not getting paid for it, so take that out of the equation.

Chevy Chase in Caddyshack. So I read a Negreanu blog for the first time in years (Link).Anyone else think he's being ridiculous here? Hotels always overbook rooms to cover for the expected cancellations. That's why you can cancel a reservation up to 24 hours in advance without a fee. If you're going to be checking in past a certain hour, you have to call and confirm your reservation and let them know that, otherwise they'll give your room away. It definitely sucks, but to call it corrupt seems like a stretch.

Really?Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with the rental car.I've never heard of having to confirm if you're coming in late.

hmmm. all very good points. I'm definitely having to consider the pricing difference, but man, those new ones have this sweet brake light set up on the back... hard getting away from that.but anyways, what I'm looking at is a 2011 Sedan EX-L 2.4 without navigation. as far as I've seen that's really the only details/accessories you can get into. not looking for any spoilers or weird crap like that.

well, my personal experience is fairly different in that mine actually had some mechanical issues as well. but I definitely had problems with the plastic shit falling apart like you said, and that just really pissed me off. that, plus the fact that since I know I will need to get it serviced on a regular basis, i.e. much less than an accord, and the fact that I have no easy method to get to and from one of the places that services them (40 miles away), it would just be too much of a hassle. plus, the 4wd ones look ugly, and I want something that works well in the winter. trust me, I've tried and tried to convince myself that I want the bmw; it just ain't happening.
