I Called In Sick Today

This is true enough but it's not always about the money. They need the numbers. RIAA certified albums are hard to come by in this age of downloads.
I don't understand what you're trying to say here.
I caught 3 minutes of the show...long enough to watch The Roots kill (in a good way) during a segment and invent the word "Afridelphian". I figured that would be the apex of the show and changed the channel.
YES. that was AMAZING TV. my friend linked me to a search on twitter for the word and it was instantly flooded with retards trying to be hilarious with it.during the monologue, someone did such a bad editing job that they cut Jimmy mid-laugh to the next joke, where he was not laughing. no changing of the shot or anything, just blatantly moving on.

and after 3 days, he is risen!

If you are paying $20 for a haircut, I imagine people assume you did it yourself anyway.

Pocket change cost me my first and only black girlfriend.   It was in the middle of a roaring poker boom and I was flush in ways most men don't even bother dreaming of. Money, it was like dirt to me

I know, right? She only selectively follows the bible. Someone get JC on the horn and let him know he's lost another one! I think he's down to less than a dozen people that follow every single word in his Big Black Book.
Dammit Speedz. Did you even read my post!?

Well, I'm not exactly sure what artist or song or album or anything we're talking about here because I just saw the link was megaupload and did not click it then I saw Mex getting on you for not paying for the music. Keep all that in mind when deciding if this even applies to the situation. Hell, I could just be talking out of my ass as usual.RIAA is the governing body over the music industry. You have to have 500k albums sold to get a gold album - plus there's points to be made about charting of songs and stuff but that could get long and drawn out so I'll just talk about album sales. If you like the music, buy the album and help your artist out because it is really hard to get a gold or platinum album these days. Downloads, unless they are the entire album from an RIAA partner like Amazon or Itunes, don't count towards an artists numbers for those RIAA milestones. Most artists want to reach those milestones. So even if it's not about the money, it's important to the artist that you buy the music.

Honestly? The same thing happened with your post as with the picture...I forgot why I quoted it. Then I didn't know which parts of your quote were about which issue at hand, and I was too lazy to go back and check. So there's a chance I might have taken one or two lines, which were about different things, and put both of them out of context. A small chance.

I'm not so sure that I do.Oh, Wang, there's a chance you aren't reading this because I haven't quoted you in this post, but I wanted to thank you for the Simply Sleep idea. My life has been improved dramatically, or at least slightly.

Wang,I've done some thinking about your opportunity. Not a ton, but some. I guess it all comes down to what you want your life to be. Do you want to keep working as a poker room manager and running small time book while you pretend that you want to eventually go the respectable route? Do you want to take your RU degree and try to get a standard cubicle job with casual fridays and the occasional office birthday party? Both are totally acceptable, because there is no right answer to this problem...it's all about what you want and/or have a level of comfort with doing. Then there's this other possibility...leading to a totally different Wang from the Wangs in the above scenarios. As mentioned today, you're self deprecating a lot of the time (which I of course am a fan of), but it's hard for me to guage exactly how dissatisfied you are with your current situation. How badly do you want to move in a different direction? You're not an idiot, so I don't have to outline exactly what would be so beneficial about getting this type of experience and the accompanying connections under your belt. So which Wang do you want to be? Because this totally is one of those rare crossroads where you really get to choose the direction in which your life is going to go. Personally, I try to make decisions by going with the option that I'd be most likely to regret not choosing later on. But who am I to judge...I was 26 before I got serious about making things happen in my life instead of continuing to cruise along, hoping that I'd eventually land in a situation that would keep me happy for longer than a year at a time. I think my biggest issue was getting past the mental block of thinking of my life in abstraction (that may be the wrong word for this...or not even a word at all), instead of realizing how much control I really had/have.Speaking of, my last staff meeting was today, and they gave me a sick stethoscope as a going away present. I feel kind of (note: stress the second syllable on the next word) badass when I wear it around my neck.Hope this helps, even though I'm sure you've already thought of this many times. Although maybe there's one more point I could make...this all could totally be a daydream scenario. Getting involved with a huge international business deal, going to china and being a big deal, making solid contacts and parlaying it into a great job, etc...that's daydream material. Except you could actually make this one happen. That doesn't come along every day, year, or decade. Speedzboobs, beer, sports, etcEdit: I'm sure this goes without saying, but I in no way mean for any of this to read as condescending.

And Beansey, I thought she like the Wheel of Fortune machines. OH well. You don't like Conan?
I just took a shot with the machine type.... demographics show that it is a favorite of her generationIll check the TITO data and get back to yaWhen he first took over Late Night he was painful for me to watch... Im not sure if he was that bad or our humor style didnt meshMy dad absolutely hated Dave in the beginning.... He eventually came around one day when I sent in a skit for the Bahamas field tripDave said "Ladies and gentlemen, you always hear about the beautiful blue water down here, and let me tell ya...... (opens toilet seat in room that the water is heavily tinted with Tidy Bowl).... ITS A FEAST FOR THE EYES!"He laughed, turned to my mom, and said "I hope he uses the one about being so cold in our house as a kid that he caught the Tidy Bowl man ice skating"
I AM NOT TAKING METAMUCIL!!!!
Im in for a tourney but Ill have to play on Zachs account on FullTilt....
I don't think I've sent you anything better than topless on the bar
That seems pretty tame, but then again Ive always had images in my mind of army meet pics that look more like papsmear tutorials in the local community college....
I don't have anything to add, just wanted to let you know that I read and appreciated your posts today.
:bigtoothygrinface:

Conan
You need to give him time if you didn't watch him before. He has a self-loathing type humor that is hilarious, but at first can be off-putting. I think he is easily the best late night guy in the last 20+ years.

artists make a pittance from record sales. I'll go to a concert if she tours near me.
No you won't. You'll illegally download the concert DVD
Are you bartering with anything I sent you? I don't think so because I don't think I've sent you anything better than topless on the bar but maybe I was drunk and have conveniently forgotten my juvenile behavior in my embarassment?
Is your memory really that bad or do our interactions have that little meaning to you? Hmmmmm
any of you guys eat those fiber one bars? i only eat them when times are desperate because they give me the runs pretty bad. its pretty awesome how fast they work too. i just ate one and by midnight, well you know.
Fiber One bars will cripple you
I didn't explain that well.Artists like to win awards. They can't win awards if you don't by albums.Off to Vegas.
I don't think they make music to win awards. I'd gather the do it because it's better than a 9-5 and they like money

Back when Napster and Kazaa sp? first came out, I was downloading a ton of music for free. I was a pretty good kid, but I was obviously stealing from the music industry. My dad warned me multiple times that I would get in trouble and that was I was doing was wrong. I pretty much ignored him and continued to just download w/e I wanted. A few weeks later, I had just gotten home from school when I got a phone call. The caller introduced himself as Mr. XXX, a lawyer representing XXX music label and that I was being sued. He referenced my ISP, home address, really the works. He informed me that I was being sued for stealing songs from the label that he represented, and that I was to appear in court. He gave me the address, the date and time etc etc. At this point, I am just completely freaked out. I'd really never gotten into any kind of trouble before and here I was being sued for something I thought I could never get in trouble for. So, I proceed to call my Dad completely freaked out. He is mostly calm, listens to what I have to say, asks a few questions about the specifics, and eventually tells me we'll talk about it when I get home. So I'm still completely bugging out when I get a phone call about 10 minutes later from my Mom, who says she heard about what happened. I tell her about it, and she finally just says that she can't take it anymore and that she has to let me off the hook. My dad was a project manager, so he had quite a few people working for him and seemingly had no trouble finding somebody to mess with me. He got an employee to find a court house, find a law firm, made him rehearse what he was going to say so that it would be convincing. He then proceeded to have his employee call me in a room full of people with the speakerphone on, so they could all bask in the glory of my shame. The guy then called me back to apologize and that he thought I handled it well. Needless to say after this I never downloaded another song again, and probably have an irrational fear of the internet police coming to arrest me if I did.
