LadyGrey 6
You have to assign the percentages yourself, what you consider most important (so WSS would get a 0% apparently).Oh, ok.I would rate WangLooks: 70 (20%)Intelligence: 91 (30%)W/S/S: This category isn't important to me, so I won't rank him for it (0%)Personality: 76 (50%)Cindy, do the percentages and stuff and work out my score.Ok I put the % in but I don't know how to make it into a score. Do the honours Cindy. Also, ranking myself seeing as you guys are:Looks: 58Intelligence: 87Personality: 89Do the score for that too Cindy, same % values.
CindyLou 11
Wealth/Success/Status - 55 - 10% - 5.5 (This number should be a 0. I am an alcohlic college dropout who runs a card room)It's like they said during the dunk contest, "If you give that dunk a 50, where do you go from there?" So you can't be zero. I consider playing poker, running a card room, and possibly running your own illegal bookmaking business to be moderately successful, even if it might not have a lot of wealth and status yet.Oh, ok.Ok I put the % in but I don't know how to make it into a score. Do the honours Cindy. Also, ranking myself seeing as you guys are:Looks: 58Intelligence: 87Personality: 89Do the score for that too Cindy, same % values.Your score for Wang is 79.3.You rated at 82.2. So Wang, what do you consider a reasonable disparity? At what point are you considered dating out of your league?

So Wang, what do you consider a reasonable disparity? At what point are you considered dating out of your league? That question is... hard to answer, for some of the reason I enumerated yesterday, specifically the following:1) Diminishing returns.2) Thresholds must be met in some categories. I think personality is more important than looks, but -- it might make me shallow -- I could never date a woman I wasn't physically attracted to. Sexual attraction is based in some part on looks, and that is very important.3) Most people have no idea what they really want. They'd fill the survey out one way, but they're lying to themselves.I'm also not sure how to evaluate this stuff. What's most important? Thinking your partner is as good or better than you? I think that's the big thing. If BOTH parties think they're dating out of their league, then both will likely remain interested. In the case of Ashley, she thinks I'm too good for her, and I do NOT think she is too good for me. Everyone else would, so the outside world would say "He's dating out of his league," but I'm pretty sure she's a nutcase whore, so...I'd like this discussion to continue. This is mostly stream of consciousness at this point, and I haven't been sleeping well lately, so my brain's struggling to connect the dots.WangPS- Lady Grey, I agree. You are definitely too good for me. Also, you're probably better looking than you give yourself credit for. I'd like to see Jeff's evaluations of your looks/personality. Napa_Don 688
I rated myself 73.25Looks 55 35% 19.25Intelligence 85 20% 17W/S/S 60 5% 3Personality 85 40% 34 73.25I kind of cheated in that although, my W/S/S isn't that high at the moment, I think given my major this is a reasonable number. Also, I don't think highly of myself. Looking at this I think I actually rated myself higher than I should have in some categories. Oh well.

Tactical Bear 3
I am noticing some... very interesting trends in the evaluations posted by thread members. I want to put these in an Excel spreadsheet and see if I can find some correlations. I have an exam in 2.5 hours that I am wholly unprepared for, but, since this really fascinates me, I have done the following:1) Prepared an email to college gf, Maggs (we haven't spoken in, like, 3 weeks, so this will be odd), Jess, and another girl I dated semi-casually. I am going to have them fill out the same survey.2) Told Ashley to further explain her reasoning on my personality score. She obviously cares greatly about "personality," but that's a really, really vague characteristic. I told her to break it down as far as she can, and explain WHY I'm a 95/100 in personality. I have a feeling, based on what I know about her and things I've heard before, that it's going to have something to do with "charisma." Should be interesting.Keep going guys. I am not sending the email to the exes for a half-hour, in case there is something you'd like me to include. I might not respond, but I'll be monitoring while I read Accounting nonsense. speedz99 145
speedz: go onNice.well I was just looking at the programs and it looked like in order to go back for a bachelors in accounting or to even get just the credits I'd need to take the CPA exam, it would take just as long to do so why not go for the MBA. then, if I'm doing that, why not just take a concentration in accounting and get the CPA while I'm at it. my main constraint is time since I can't really be out of the workforce for that long living off my parent's dime and racking up ridiculous debt. I'd probably still have to work some shitty job at the same time to eat (my parents are quite poor) so it'd be exceedingly stressful. my main concern right now is that "within 5 years" clause which really makes zero sense to me since they say MOST people pursuing MBA's do it after 5 years, and I doubt they all go back to redo their freaking bachelors. I'm requesting my transcripts today and calling the admissions office there to ask a few questions. we'll see.So where do you think you might apply? The man replied, 'How did you know my name was Katz?Quite appropriate indeed.I'm glad you mention this, Speedzie.I'm pretty sure that now everyone is glad I mentioned it. Tactical Bear 3
Do you view yourself as a cheeseburger? I don't understand why you keep bringing up the law of diminishing returns.I will assume this is an actual inquiry (and not some joke I don't understand).Simply put, the jump from 50-75 on the looks scale is more important than the jump from 75-100 in terms of a prospective mate's desirability. Each additional point gained is less valuable than the one before it (after a certain threshold has been met, I think).Take the girl below, in simple form:Looks (50% weight) 55Personality (50% weight) 8067.5She is going to be in the friend-zone. I am probably unattracted to her physically. She gets some surgery:Looks 75Personality 8077.5Now, I will date her. I might marry her.She gets some more surgery.Looks 95Personality 8087.5She is more desirable to me, now, but not the full 10 points more desirable. The difference between going from a 55 to a 75 in looks is waaaay more important than going from a 75 to an 85. Diminishing returns to looks. (shrug) It's NOT linear for me. It's regressive.
