I think the best blanket statement to throw over it would be: White folks are extremely susceptible to reverse psychology.I also think the greater underlying issue is the light shed on such role models as perceived by our youth.I always cite Monster Magnet for the Sheer Genious of their "Space Lord" music video concept: Filmed during the era we could charitably describe as the "Death of Rock" (with ska/punk/nu-metal/emowhatever casting the stones), the video ressonated with me as a startling realization that Rock had (except in this instance) completely lost it's way. Most of the popular Rock was moving to the excessively whiny in the "I just lost my girlfriend", "my life sucks", "mommy doesnt love me" tripe.. Most of the hip hop was centered around "I got a girl on each arm" "I live luxurously" "people want to be me" or... at the *veeeery* least an overwhelming sense of "Things are aight. Life is good. We're prepared to deal with whats to come". If you are 14 and awkward, which of those two fields are you going to want to embrace/emulate? It's not even close! As for explaining the really hardcore gangster-scene.. good luck, heh... Although PE, NWA et al really just did the whole Rage Against the Machine trick of getting really mad about a cause while holding yourself as piously beyond reproach as possible. Hell, I still don't know what some of those Rage songs were really about, but I durn well listened to all of them.. Anger and Action are incredibly polarizing on impressionable minds, hands down.Toss all that together with the prevailing white guilt the school systems force fed down our throats for the entirety of our adolescence, it's no wonder we desperately seek out and cling to trends we barely understand. I just called my accountant and they said that along with the regular info they need, they also need to know how much my stimulus check was last year. now why would they need to know that? I remember very specifically last year that the IRS or whoever said that we would not be taxed on that as income. anybody know?
